Raspberry Pi have released a new computer based on the Pi 4 built into a keyboard.
All you need to add is a mouse. It is powered by USB input and has an HDMI display port so you can plug it into your TV.

Ideal for browsing, email and things like netflix etc. Could also with the addition of external storage be used to watch films/box sets stored on USB drives.

It runs on Linux so is easy to update and is secure. It costs £67 for the bare unit (you need to supply mouse and cables) or £95 for a full kit.

This seems like an excellent bargain to me.

A firestick is much more restrictive and still needs a keyboard adding.
Completely different classes of devices.

Which I agree ! Also lots of mobile phones, tablets do the same. I suppose it's a case of which you prefer and do you want a specific gadget to do a specific task, or one that does lots of different things, some of the brilliantly, some if them not so ..

Yup it sold out pretty quickly. The only suppliers I could see that had any stock only had the full kit in stock.

This is normal for new Pi launches though. Should come back into stock fairly quickly.

I've run a Pi headless in the van, controlling it from a tablet but this all in one unit looks very neat.

Although it does run on a Linux system it is possible to install Ubuntu on a Pi now if someone prefers that.

I never buy a computer made by someone else.

They are always built using components that are on the edge of obsolescence. To get 3-5 years life out of it, you'll need to upgrade it, and then the total cost exceeds what it would have cost to have built it yourself.

And then you have the vendor, filling the thing up with bloatware, advertising and half a dozen types of anti-virus/firewall that require subscription.

Building your own pc box or laptop is easier than many people think, as well as being cheaper. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/hc9Vqk

For basic desktop stuff like browsing the web and writing emails etc you wouldn't notice any difference other than it is Linux so if you are used to Windows there will be a learning curve. The Pi can run LibreOffice for documents etc or use Google Docs.

You can't even buy a motherboard/CPU combination for the price of this entire computer. It is not aimed as a desktop replacement for the professional video editor or other high end user.

The format of this one I think is ideal for the motorhome because it is all built into the keyboard, uses very little power and runs off USB power.
