This is a fab place to give the motorhome a run, ending with great views and a meal. But:-

Please note:

Due to persistent abuse of our hospitality, the maximum stay in our car park is three hours, unless specifically agreed with The Pilot Management, all offenders will incur a £200 fine. Motorhomes and campers are specifically not allowed to park at The Pilot overnight without express permission from The Pilot management. Campers and motorhomes are only allowed to stay overnight if all of the occupants of the vehicle eat meals at The Pilot on the evening of arrival and any vehicles staying overnight must leave before 11am the next day, any vehicles flouting this rule will incur a £200 fine. All overnight stays must respect our neighbours: no noise, no games, no barbeques or other cooking in the car park. Any abuse of our hospitality will result in immediate eviction. The car park is monitored by 24 hour ANPR CCTV and all number plates are logged with number plate recognition. Parking monitoring and enforcement is managed by ANPR Parking Control.

Nice place in the U.K.'s only desert, full of history, welcoming staff & good food from our experiences in the past.

No wonder they are hacked off with their hospitality / property being abused

Sad they feel it necessary. Reanalysed nice people run it.

We've stayed there many times after a lovely meal.

Not sure if it’s running yet. Just been for lunch. V well organised.

Wont be bothering to go any time soon. I want to look at propper cars not Citreons and Alpines 😱

Just as a matter of interest, whilst there today friends pulled up with their motorhome for a takeaway and they were asked if they were staying the night. That’s never happened before. No problem for them to have their takeaway in the van. V.v. Busy when we left

Nice place to stay for a visit to the area but it’s a bit overpriced, shame people are taking the mickey.
? £8.50 for massive Seniors cod chips and mushy peas to eat in. Costs more than that at our local fish and chip shop to take away. Have had the medium menu before but far too big. Before anyone asks, no they don’t check your age😂

I bet that there is no "evidence" that people are abusing the place, not DNA tested "Proof" that people are taking the mickey

I have read on MHF that business owners make up these stories to stop visitors to the area!!

True story!

They have cctv on the car park and ask you to give them your name and reg number to overnight.

When the weather was glorious and everyone was heading for the beach lots of cars tried to park and walk away but they patrolled the car park and moved them on. This was before we could eat in. We were there in the moho for lunch and they asked that we only stayed for an hour after eating as they were extremely busy, not unreasonable I thought.

Sounds a great place to visit & not just for the food :o
But the UK doesn't have a desert. Source: Guardian article on Dungeness

Prefer the local knowledge. Always been referred to as Britain’s only desert. Actually we don’t get a lot of rain down here compared to most of U.K. Hasten to add this is not a scientifically proven statement, just my gut feeling😀 please don’t shout at me.

As a point of interest the pub referred to in the article is not the Pilot but the Britannia which also does good food.

A view of the desert from the Pilot car park ...

It used to be even worse farther down at The Britannia pub.
