In a previous relationship we rehomed two greyhounds.
Unfortunately, no matter what we tried I had to take a backseat as neither could be near me..... Cowering and shaking.
They were OK in the same room but wouldn't come near me.
Obviously abused by what considered himself to be a man.
No problem at all with my then partner.

Best thing I ever did was to rescue my German Shepherd.
Love her to bits! On the 8th of December its her first "Got ya day" anniversary!
We are that pathetic we are throwing her a doggy party with all her favorite doggy friends!

Dogs can get away with most,strange to us, behaviours cant they?
Its because we luv em dont we?
Well I though I was very much loved and appreciated by my wife also.
But when I sleep walked a few years ago having moved bedroom, turned usual left for the loo but peed in the corner of another bedroom, it didst go down that well with the occupants at the time.
Felt like it was me that needed re-homing after that.

Holly was a bit like this when I found her. Scared of men, scared of anything stick shaped ( sweeping brushes, garden tools ) She was so weak she couldn’t walk far and couldn’t climb the incline behind the house without stopping several times. When I took her into a field with Cass she looked bewildered at Cass running around chasing stones I threw for her ( you had to keep your dogs moving in Cyprus for fear of poisoned meat put down)
She looked scared the first time she met Cass, hackles up but trying to touch her nose to nose, as if she realised it was Cass’s home but was scared she’d attack her pups. The large travel crate I put her and her pups in though she liked. A couple of towels to line it and it was as if she gave out a big sigh of relief and settled down to feed her pups.
She was so emaciated I had to feed her every couple of hours with a cereal bowl of food. It was Christmas Eve so I had a quick dash to the nearest supermarket to buy food for her and the pups.

That was all 13 years ago this Christmas Eve. She’s far more trusting now but still not keen on sweeping brushes or fluorescent jackets on people.

Our current dog, daisy the 'doodle, was rescued from an alcoholic woman.
She was around 18 months.
I don't think she was physically abused but definately neglected.
Now she a loving, hair shedding terrorist.
