I’m a newbie
Less than a week after our beautiful boy Bear left us I had a call about a young Golden Retriever pup (well 2 1/2 yrs) needing a home.
As fragile as our hearts were we just couldn’t leave him (23 hours a day in kennel!) so took him in!
Obviously any plans to Moho right now are on hold 🤦🏼‍♀️
Rossi wasn’t housetrained, had no house manners but to be fair had never been in a house!!!
He’s doing so well & I think he’s happy here 😂😂

I think Bear would have liked him 🐾

well done, once he has settled he will have a good happy life with you

Taking a “rescue” dog is the way to go. Our last three have all been rescue dogs and my daughter’s present one is “rehomed” after being neglected.

Why anyone would pay thousands of pounds for a dog, except as a fashion accessory, escapes me. There are so many great dogs looking for a home.

Best wishes for your future together. He looks great.

And the flipside of buying a dog is that it encourages more breeding - usually of the worst kind. For example French Bulldogs with inherent breathing problems.

we tried rescue / re-homing after losing our 2 Cavaliers, but no Cavvies available anywhere, we looked for 6 months, so ended up going back to same breeder as we have always brought from,
She is a responsible breeder who owns both parents, who we met at the same time, would never buy from a stranger unless recommended.
Sorry but rescue did not work for us. but we did try

We also tried to find a rescue dog for months and looked at many dogs for sale adds, almost all were fake or more likely stolen, with a few from unscrupulous breeders. we finally got a puppy after a chance meeting with people who had bought a dog from a breeder and gave us a recommendation. The breeder we bought from is very responsible, we saw the mum and dad, as well as grandad. we would have preferred to offer a home to a rescue dog but no suitable dogs were available, we were not fussy about the breed but wanted a small dog, and none of the rehoming centres had any.

I quite like the term "recycled" family members

We have two frenchies, three year old female and a fifteen week old male, no breathing problems (yet)
Both are brilliant well behaved dogs. We also have a thirteen year old Pug, no breathing problems with her.

I was generalising. They're gorgeous dogs but too many seem to need soft palate repair.

Thanks everyone, Rossi has settled in very well so far and knowing what he has coming up (for the rest of his life!!) he has basically won the equivalent of the doggy lottery 😂
He is the fourth gun dog we have rehomed, each one very different, very loyal, very lovable and loved unconditionally.
I do think that however your dog arrives in your life makes you very lucky 🥰🐾🥰

We have always put a piece of tape across the floor (keeps paws away from Aga hot plates & food prep) and happy to say Rossi is towing the line just like Bear & Nella before him 👍🏼👍🏼
God I do miss my travels and fell walking but I know we will all be back on the road soon enough xx

He is a very lucky boy at last.
Ours are not rescues, though we have both had several rescues in the past between us.
Wishing you all many happy years together.

I love the white line and how they lie as close to it as they possibly can. Is that called pushing the boundaries?:h:
