Lithium phosphate batteries…expensive!

Thought someone may like the following info if you are considering changing to lithium but are a little freaked out by the price / putting it off as I am.

There is a company, selling in America , called Ipowerqueen that are selling exceptionally cheap and apparently good value Lithium leisure batteries.

They are also in Germany and I contacted them last night re postage to UK as they deliver free throughout EU.
The website is available in different languages, may be worth a visit

A chap called Mike messaged me back, saying they would be opening a branch in the UK in a few months.

Just a taster, a 100amp hr €399 with a discount at the checkout. 12.8v, from 4000cycles, weight 11kg, 100A BMS to protect against over charge & discharge, over current, short circuit, over temperature. 2 hours fully charged with a 50A charger.Apparently can be used at minus 10 deg C and charged from 0deg C. Whole range of others available….also ones that can be charged at below 0 deg c as well.

I like the 300 amp hr, usable capacity of 3840Wh, 29kg, 4000-15000+ cycle times under different depth of discharge, usable 100% depth of discharge and €1088.99!

They are said to use good quality prismatic cells (what ever that means) and even though not ‘top of the range’ may possibly suit some people.

There are videos of reviews, use tests, strip downs etc on YouTube.

I have no connection to the company, just though the info maybe of use…obviously you’d need to check supporting electrics in your van for suitability.

Cheers,
Peter

Does the BMS have low temperature protection? Will it prevent damaging charging when it drops below freezing?

Depends which ones you buy… there is one I believe that lets you charges at below 0 deg as I said in the first post and I think one that has a heated mat function. I believe most have no low temp protection within the BSM, you just need to be aware of that.

seem to be giving china a run for the money. Lithium prices are falling.
Even cheaper here in the USA.

For those of you with a like mind to mine, I bought this about 6 months ago, been away for 12 days in Winter (snowing in Luxembourg) and 20 days in September (Vendee) and it has behaved as I expected it to. Charging 2 Ebikes (plus other things including fridge at times last year) and doing what I need it to do. It has come down £11 since I bought it. I put my own reading system on there but not Bluetooth but I just look at it (in the old fashioned way) as I enter the motorhome.
Information only as not had it long enough to recommend. Make your own mind up. Am I happy ? Wish I had bought the 300 ah now after the Winter excursion, will be absolutely fine in the summer.

USed to be, but now with the dollar rate etc not quite so. A loaf og wholemeal bread cost me bloody £4.00 yesterday
And with these batteries coming from china Id expect them to be more expensive than in the EU..? strange

Remember the US Prices will be quoted without local Sales Tax. If you add on whatever that would be for your State, the price goes up. To compare against UK prices, add on 20% first.

Most things are cheaper? they have to be to let the poor sods have enough money to pay their medical bills.

A branch in Germany was mentioned, maybe worth checking their costs?

Those batteries seem to be about the same price as Fogstar. I’ve just imported 3 x 100amp lithium batteries from China including BMS and Bluetooth app for £935 delivered to my door and took 7 days in total. Would have been much cheaper if I’d gone for sea freight but I wanted them quickly. So far they are working well.

I have just built my own LiFePo4 280ah battery using Eve grade B cells and JK BMS, all bought from Fogstar in the UK with 12 months warranty. Total cost including cables, lugs and case about £650.
