Don’t know if there has already been discussion on Fun about this system but I only heard about it yesterday.
Andrew Ditton has made a very comprehensive review on YouTube about the interesting new fresh, grey and black water system.
I think there will be lots of discussion about the pros and cons.
It's quite a long video but carefully done and informative.

Marmite, I think.

I can’t see it catching on for a number of reasons:

1. Cost of chemicals and being tied to one brand
2. Huge restriction on available places to empty.
3. Inability to use septic tanks
4. “Grey” water is effectively black. I can’t see many sites that would be happy for people to empty their Indus tank over the grating.
5. Re #4: no more emptying “grey” into the hedge-row, as encouraged on many small sites.

Considering the above, I think they should go the whole hog and install hydrogen engines, since this would make no difference to the usability of the MH.

i think a lot or american motorhomes have similar system and it make sense, i like that they use (filtered) grey water to flush out the system. its a good step forward in my opinion (though i have my concerns about macerator toilets in general)

Pretty much my thoughts too. (y)
There are several 'pros' that are quite appealing but I think you have summed up the 'cons' very well.
Not quite so sure about the hydrogen engine though. :giggle:

Richard.

Fitted to the new Burstner elegance, I looked at up at Camper U.K. this time last year. Looked very complex and expensive to maintain.

American RV’s have two tanks, black and grey. You pull the lever for black and then pull the lever for grey which washes out the pipe. But only suitable if your letting it all go in a sewer drain.

It really looks like they have taken a very simple Black and Grey waste tank system and thought of a way to make it more complicated and reliant on their own chemicals.

The idea of being service free for 7 days is great although I wonder what size the tanks are wether this really is possible, we have just done 11 days with a traditional Grey Black and fresh water tank system and the black was still less than 50% so very relaxing not having to do the cassette every couple of days, we have a total of 500 litres of waste capacity though.

thats where we disagree, i think it will catch on, especially in the lux end of the market - the best point for me is that ideas are being developed and improvements are being made all the time, innovation from a British company that sells products all over the world, what isnt there to like?

who knows what this may 'morph' into in a few years time, will the motorhomers in 20 years time look back and laugh at the days they had to empty their toilet cassettes every couple of days, replacing lost lids that fell into the 'facility', dealing with splashback .....???

i am pretty sure they will already be looking at how they can retrofit to existing toilets by installing the macerator where the cassette is stored and utilising the current grey waste tank. They will of course need to look at installing proper 'traps' to shower, sink, basin etc and using 'fresh' water to flush the holding tank - but not of that is beyond reach

I don't know what you class as the "lux" end of the market buy black and grey tanks have been standard/options on the likes of N+B Concorde PhoeniX MORELO etc etc for many years now, a cassette is optional over the default macerator and black tank now.

I don't know what you mean by "lux" end of the market but N+B, Concorde, PhoeniX, MORELO etc etc have been offering black tanks for years to a point that they are virtually standard now with the cassette being and option.

I thought that Thetford, despite the name, were a Dutch company.
Might be wrong………….I frequently am.:giggle:
actually they were founded in the USA, so my previous comment re British company is a load of boll...x lol

i could edit it my previous post and make it look like i know what i am talking about ....... bet hey we all make mistakes (as the dalek said, climbing off the dusbin ...)

They are lux in my view and according to my wallet ......

Chemicals last about a month at £30 a pop, how many sites will have facility for emptying, not for me.

Appears reliant on expensive chemicals we don't use any chemicals. Why would anyone want to use loads of chemicals especially at 30 quid a month.
I certainly wouldn't want that system far too complicated sounds a nightmare if you get a fault, I hope there are manual overrides..
On that van the fresh and grey tanks were tiny for such a large van.
We can last 7 days with our spare cassette not exactly hard to empty a cassette.

Once you’ve added their chemicals you can’t empty it in any “green“ waste point.

A bit like inkjet printers in some ways. Tied to a brand (or risk compatibles) and expensive to run. However, I think we need to advance from the cassette system, good as that has been, and this is a step in that direction. I'm sure it will be refined with experience.
