Hello there !

I've a problem with the spills when boiling pasta on the hob. It's usually only a small amount but it seems to drip from under the hob into the cupboard below. There's no tray or anything below to catch any spills. Is this right ?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks !

It shouldn't be able to get under the hob except if the amount of water you are allowing to boil over is too great so that it inundates the small raised area below the burner which is meant to stop water running under them.

There isn't a tray underneath normally but I suppose you could try to make one if you wished, or just put a tea-towel in the top of the cupboard when you're doing pasta so that it absorbs any water going underneath, best to try to avoid the boiling over though if you can.

yes I'm using a bigger pot with less water, makes a big difference. I think my van tends to lean towards the front which adds to the problem a little.

I'll put it down to user error.

The consumer unit and RCD is directly under the hob so it's worth avoiding repeat offences

Don't you just love the way they make this crap. If it were used in a home enviroment they would not be in business for long so how do they get away with it. I suppose the answer is that there are only a couple of suppliers and they can do what they like.

Our gas hob has a switch on top next to the controls for the ignition. Guess what happens if you get water anywhere near the switch. Would not be so bad if it was waterproof but it's not and they want £13 for a new one. You can buy a similar one on EBay for £2.

Home environment ? this is how they build UK homes

They are not the only ones.

Yes I've gotta look at my van and say that they got it 90 % right. Better than UK house building.

You're right thought, they shouldn't be making these stupid dumb mistakes
