We have a thetford tall fridge freezer, to us it seems to work OK, cold enough, but the gas appears to be on longer than we've had on previous dometic units, gas consumption is around 1/2 kilo per day.
Should the gas burner be on nearly all the time? Or is this normal?

Try placing a couple of computer type fans in the top grill of your fridge to help draw colder air through and the hot air out. It will help to increase the efficiency of your fridge and use less gas.
Also if the fridge / freezer is cold enough for your needs ,turn it down a notch and run it for a while and see if it's still cold enough for you at the lower setting.

Already got the fans on 3 with controller,
Problem is fridge works fine, on 1 its about 9°, on 2 about 5°.
Its just the burner seems to always be on , is this how thetfords work? Our old dometic was on and off all the time

How the fridge is loaded will effect its cooling ability. How the air can circulate around the contents has an effect on how efficient it is.

Is the door closed properly - There is a catch on mine to leave the door slightly ajar
