Agree but it's usually simplest to vent through the floor.Bio washing liquid, choose the aroma that suits you rather than formaldehyde and poo. And install a SOG or equivalent, vented through the roof
I prefer to vent up and out, so the smell doesn't hang around. Nothing nicer than having your alfresco breakfast interrupted by the smell of your neighbour take their morning pooAgree but it's usually simplest to vent through the floor.
Ingwe - I'm interested how well this product works when it's hot as it looks like a fragrance and not a biocide. How has your experience been Also, do you also have a SOG system? Ngiyabonga!Toilet Blue on ebay. You use very little per dose and it doesn’t contain formaldehyde. Pleasant smell and pretty effective.
Camperlife Toilet Fluid Dark Cherry Scented 40 Uses Caravan Motorhome NOT Elsan | eBay
There is no other blue on the market that is as effective as Camperlife’s toilet chemicals with individual fragrances and the power to outlast most other toilet chemicals on the market. There is no better reason why you shouldn’t give Camperlife a try.www.ebay.co.uk
We don’t have a SOG unit. I’d quite like to have one but they attract a lot of criticism too. We’ve used Toilet Blue now for 2 years and found it much more effective than the Thetford product. It’s much easier to handle, you get the correct dose just by gently squeezing the bottle until the dose is full. Then you can pour it into the cassette. It doesn’t stain like the other stuff either.Ingwe - I'm interested how well this product works when it's hot as it looks like a fragrance and not a biocide. Thetford Blue doesn't contain formaldehyde and hasn't done for years.Bio washing liquid, choose the aroma that suits you rather than formaldehyde and poo. And install a SOG or equivalent, vented through the roof
Reminds me of the old advert "whats blue and has four bums?"Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good alternative to thetford blue toilet cleaner or where I can get it for reasonable price please?
Thanks Nick
They disintegrate in water……….Do you puncture those bio capsules or do they disintegrate in the water?
Yep, converted mine to roof vent, only downside is wind in the wrong direction & rooflight open you get your own back.I prefer to vent up and out, so the smell doesn't hang around. Nothing nicer than having your alfresco breakfast interrupted by the smell of your neighbour take their morning poo

I've just installed a SOG so will feedback after our upcoming long tour. I suspect issues with bad odours from the SOG system will be as a result of not replacing the activated charcoal filter often enough. We don’t have a SOG unit. As for smells, it copes pretty well, even in hot weather.
Although it doesn’t have formaldehyde, I don’t know what chemicals it does use. There are many who advocate just using water and emptying the cassette daily. That, to me, is a counsel of perfection. We don’t always have access to a black water drain every day and we find that having something that really manages the possible odour important.
We’ve tried bio tabs, fabric conditioner, and brewer’s yeast tablets but none of them really delivered like the True Blue.
I don’t think that any of the toilet chemicals can possibly break down the contents in the time allowed and a lot of them will destroy septic tanks.
Ya pays ya money and ya takes ya choice…..
