Ok we are either 1 or 2 categories on here... The money conscious that usually wild camps (me) V the campers that love to pitch up at sites. Would you pay £20 for an aire including EHU whether you needed EHU or not? Please only reply if you would consider the area,..have been or have on your to go list.

Forget the hook up as most people stopping a few nights should not need it, just water and proper waste disposal including ground level for black tanks, £15 max as it’s a nice spot.

If it’s a lovely place which I believe it is I am happy to pay ... especially if it’s a central location.

If the location is really good I would, as you know I am joining you at Millport next month, I will reserve judgement till then

but from what I see there is no view from this place and you can park for free with a sea view just down the road 🤔

There are A FEW sea view plots but not for you. You've secured the probably one and only plot that can take an awning.

Just giving a short reply would have been more friendly
Maybe your right,I apologise if you aren't google friendly. Maybe its a generation thing.

I am quite Google friendly thank you. Just a friendly reply to a question about where Millport is would be a much better reply than just ----Google it.

Millport was there not a radio 4 programme that made the Archers look like a Fred West special? A spit and hop from Ayrshire but a generation away in attitude! :giggle:

No idea, but it sounds an interesting read. Need to
have a google.

As it’s one of my favourite places from childhood I’d pay the £20 but do think it’s on the steep side, I probably wouldn’t pay it if I didn’t know the place so I’d imagine the price might put off some newbies visiting.

I might in the basis that there aren’t a lot of options for staying over on the island - I imagine they’ll not accept campers on the sea front much longer once the site opens. On the other hand it’s a 40 minute drive from us to the slipway so a day trip works really well. We usually park in Largs and just take the bikes over.

So it's not a campsite and doesn't offer full facilities i.e. toilet / shower blocks. That alone has to limit any pricing. From the apparent size of the island, if touring I wouldn't be expecting to stay anything more than a couple of nights. So I wouldn't need EHU even in the cooler months and wouldn't expect to have to pay for that. £10 a night would be enough.

Having said that, I'm not even sure if touring I would be taking the van over to the Island. I'd probably pitch up at a site around Largs (Kelburn campsite £5 per person per night) and go across for the day on bicycle saving I expect quite a lot on any ferry cost for not taking the van, yet I'd probably see just as much.

Perhaps I'm not the target market for this facility?

£20 on the steep side but we would pay if we were intending to kayak and needed to wash salt water out of our gear. Also if staying for a few nights and the weather wasn't brilliant enough for the solar panel then EHU would be one of our requirements (medical equipment). However we usually pay between £10 and £16 a night for a serviced pitch at our favourite CL so £20 is steep.

This year the CL is £16 in high season. No showers / toilet block but it has EHU, water and grey waste and tv point at each pitch plus free internet. In the winter it is £8 a night and electric charged by meter readings.
