Looking to buy.

Evening all,

Have been looking at the above on the web. It appears like all manufacturers the is a refresh and product launch for the 2023 MY. I understand they are part of the large Trigano group. I would be interested to know where you think the Brand sits in the market and would welcome your feedback.

Thanks.

I looked at them a few years ago and again this weekend as I've started to get frustrated with the endless wait for our new Rapido.
I don't think they are as well put together as some others and being part of the same group as Autotrail also puts me off after our experience with our Scout (Bought new and 5 years of leaks). Also watch for the payload. Many are way too low and I think the vans have been built down to a quality that meets the 3500kg category. But the final thing for me was that you can only get them from Marquis new and they have a variable reputation. I know others will have has good experiences but most seem not to have and I've been lucky enough to have purchased from what I believe are 2 very good dealers and I think it matters. All the issues I had above were sorted with their assistance. I had a look at the Knaus LIFE 700 reviewed by Peter Vaughan of MMM and that was far better for the money.

Hi GMLS

Many thanks for such a detailed response. I take on board all you have mentioned. I have just recently joined Fun and we are in the market for a new camper. I fully agree with your opinion of Marquis. My local dealer was trying to sell me a late used Autotrail with 3000 miles for more than a new one a few months ago. Told me it's the only way to secure for 2022. That l understand but.... We did go to NEC in February and l did look at Knauss so they are on my list. Hopefully l can navigate my way around the forum and get back to you with our progress.

I looked at them in our initial search and I liked them alot in terms of layout and appearance. However other convertors did similar layouts. We ultimately went for a large PVC but had we gone down the A class route the fact they were only supplying to one dealership did not sit well with me and Marquis being that dealership would have put me off even more!

Hi Dash
I agree with appearance and layout. But after looking at dealer network solely Marquis in the UK does also put me off.

We had a look as them 2 years ago when we changed vans, I liked them but the big problem was the payload so check that first.

Hi again. Am l right in thinking PVC is private vehicle converter. Or am l barking up the wrong tree lol.

Many Thanks Lenny.Understand weight is the enemy when looking at payload.
Yup.Do you have a C1 license? Issued automatically if you passed your test before 1996.Otherwise you need to really consider payload, number of passengers, bikes etc etc

Nice styling and very glossy finishes but always reminds me a bit of IKEA type fit out - think they are the lower to middle end of the Trigano group of brands and think they have suffered since going under the Trigano group - every van has a placed usually driven by budget for me if I’m right the dealer network in the U.K. isn’t brilliant and is mainly Marquis which isn’t the best either

Glad to say have the C1. So being older does seem to have its advantages. Cheers again....

Yes the styling does appeal we are looking for something a bit more contemporary than some seem to offer. Not that l am blinkered by appearance alone. I like us all will focus in on quality of fittings and hardware used to understand where they are looking to cut cost at the expense of longevity. Spending this sort of cash only to find problems occur in year one etc must be more than frustrating. Then getting things sorted via dealer under warranty. Went up to the NEC this year and was shocked with some vehicles on display. Have only had a brief visit to our local Marquis dealer about another brand. Not impressed by them one bit so the search goes on... Many thanks for your help.

Hi
We had a mobilvetta 2017 model until recently but sold it due to the big 70 approaching and can’t be doing with medical issues in maintaining my Ci licence our was plated at 3650 and left very little payload. All of the new ones are now plated 4500 so this should solve this. Despite the weight issues we had no issues with the van in fact we were very happy with the van and in my opinion is a well finished Aclass.

Having met a few people owning mobilvetta they all rave the layout and the design of the vans but they all moan about marquee as a dealer and not being able to sort out the numerous faults as it’s built by the Italians.

Try Brownhills if you are looking for a good dealership , had brilliant service from buying new last year, can’t fault them in any way.

Have been looking at reviews for dealers. I agree Brownhills do seem to have good reviews. Choosing the right dealer is as important as buying the right van. Hopefully social media will continue to weed out the sharks. Many thanks...

Seeing where you are located, I've had excellent experience with both Southdowns and Premier a little way along the coast and worth checking stock. Have a look at Dethleffs or Sunlight brands as they have more contemporary options. These look pretty good value
