Slight to minor!
so i have taken all comments on board and totally chickened out of going anywhere near Rouen ??? have planned a route that takes us up to the left of Rouen on the d913/490 towards Yvetot, stopping at the Aires in La Mailleraye Sur Seine for the night and then on to Calais the next day.

Good plan. The Pont de Brotonne bridge (toll free, despite some satnavs) is an awesome thing and the approach roads really nice. Rouen is hot, full of traffic and concrete, no need to go there, having done both my advice is to avoid it :)

July 2010 (ex tugger)
Our first time abroad we parted from our travelling companions (some will remember Loujess) at Honfleur and headed east for Switzerland, while they went west. That took us through Rouen and we stopped just short of the wind chimes with a low underpass in front and managed to cross lanes through a gap in what looked like a row of railway sleepers. Two minutes later we found another underpass in front and ended up travelling two hundred metres along a bus lane to escape. Oppenheim was another nightmare, no bridges, just narrow streets and a difficult escape route. :censored:
