To be honest that's ok for an old Talbot, I only every look at the most recent few MOTs as any major stuff should have been fixed to pass.
I'd be looking at getting that welding done on the advisories though, rust will eat through these vehicles!

For that age of van theres nothing on there that id be too concerned about.
Corrosion needs sorting. Can you weld? ( competently) do uou have a welder. Could start to get ecpensive if not.

You keep asking ‘what are advisories’
Simply put these are items the tester has picked up on, tho not an mot failure they possibly could be in the future so he/she is bringing them to your attention so you can address the problems

I would imagine that once the Talbot got to a certain age, the owner, whoever he or she might be
used the MOT test as a yearly "What's wrong with it" and probably avoided/ignored having it
maintained to the best of standards, ie Yearly service, Safety checks etc.

That is why, when it started to age a bit, the Tester found various minor faults that went down as
'Advisories' and no doubt the owner sorted them out and carried on regardless.

The first thing that struck me was 27/10/23 where there were 2 fails with the same items being named but t different MOT stations and the same mileage.

It just seems whoever owned it on that date took it to one where it failed and immediately took it to another within a mile, which one might think they were a bit of a chancer trying to get the MOT passed.

MIleage seems to have been put on in later life and 6 years 2011-7 of no usage but it has been relatively well used since (which i would say is a good thing)

I think you might be confusing MOT test number with MOT testing station. The MOT was done 4 months early so it might have changed hands at that time?

Just finished nights and it felt like a full moon night ! You ll know what sort of night I had, and like a fool, I have succumbed to overtime on my 2nd night off (tomorrow) so really dont know where I am at the moment, and at time of posting I only had a few sips of coffee.

That s my excuse and I m sticking to it ;)

I have a 1990 talbot express . I have had it from new. There is nothing on there that should scare you. We have had most of those problems. And we still take our van down to spain and Portugal, nearly every year for about 8 weeks. So go for it.

To be honest for 9k you are going to looking at an older vehicle, this one being 30 years old, you would expect it too have a few issues
