Temperature Sensor Gauge - location of sender unit Relay 2008 2.2

As per title, struggling to find this - gauge not working and have a new unit to fit which hopefully will resolve.
So pointers to where it may be located greatly appreciated as am v worried that driving without this may lead to issues eg rad fans not running etc

Not certain for this model but often in thermostat housing( where top hose joins engine.When you find it put wire to engine with ignition on if gauge rises faulty sender if not unlikely to be sender(applies to single wire sender)

As said above. Just before the thermostat. Normally high up on engine near or in cylinder head.
