Telescopic window stay (1 Viewer)

One or two of my side window stays don't stay up, is there a remedy aside from replacement ? I'm not sure if they have a ball bearing or something inside that catches to make them stay up ? But they click as they are extended.

When I had some that played up I took them apart fiddled and they worked ok for a while. Then failed again so ended up replacing them.

Had the same problem with some of our stays. I removed them and thoroughly cleaned them, sprayed lubricant on and they have been good since.

some of our windows are the push out and click others have the telescopics with the thumbscrew to lock i prefer the later as more reliable and you can chose any opening

Can't really help, other than to say that sloppy catches could be regarded as a safety feature. Had ours been like that, when I walked into the open window on Tuesday, I wouldn't have gashed my head ...And uttered rude expressions of procreational activity ...
