We are going to Italy via France next month and want to take advantage of the "automatic toll tags"

As far as i can make out, the Italian Telepass will work in France as well, or am i wrong?

If anyone has a better suggestion for a different make, feel free to educate me!!

I have emailed Telepass twice, with an enquiry, but have not had a reply as yet, so cant see how to purchase the correct one:(

Our motorhome is a tag axle, weighing a max of 5 tonnes.

Any help, greatly received

You will save yourself a lot of money if you go via Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland.

French tolls are expensive, if you get away with classe 2 ( not 4) all peage will still cost about 180 euros through France.

Whereas the Swiss HGV pass is about 35 euros. And you can fillup in Luxembourg for about 1.10/ litre.

You havent said where in italy you are going but whichever way you choose have a think about tunnels, the Frejus Mont Blanc and St Bernhard , are expensive whereas St Gotthard or Simplon pass are free.

Not quite straight forward. There is a service for HGV's over 3.5t or vehicles carrying more than 8 people otherwise its Italy only. Not sure if they will allow a Motorhome over 3.5t to have the full pass and suspect, however, admit I don't know, that it will be expensive.

Thanks all for taking time to reply

I've been in touch via email...again....but no reply! I even phoned, but its all in Italian and apart from the odd word, i don't speak it, so that failed.

I've tried a couple of others, but they don't do one for the larger vehicle.

We don't generally use the tolls, but now and again we have to. The Italian smaller roads are particularly bad, so may use them more than the French.

We are intending travelling down the west coast of France and then cutting across towards Italy. May come back the way Jon suggested in his post.

I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it
Tolls in Italy are much cheaper and easier than say France
Only one ticket and one payment per journey
