Hi (cherry popping post)
Tankless LPG water heaters.
I'm looking at getting one with the idea to mount it in a vented lockbox on the outside of my rear barn door. The LPG would be mounted on the inside of the same rear door. Enough pipe play will be given for the opening and closing of the door.
All looks well in principle and on paper but here's where I need some help.
Can the system be set up so I can just turn the hot water tap on in the van without having to keep going to the outside rear of the van to turn things on. In other words can it just be left on for instant use.

Hope that makes sense and look forward to seeing your replies.

The ones I have dealt with when you turn the water pump on it opens the gas valve but you need the pilot light to be on.

I'm not sure if these are auto ignition with the 2 X batteries in the unit.......can anyone help with that bit pls 🙏

I can't help directly but you will waste a lot of water(?) when you turn hot tap on and wait for hot water to reach the taps.

Are you allowed to plumb a fixed appliance with a flexible pipe?
Basildog will know.

Crude drawing but it's easier than typing it

probably not but similar to fill point on a locker door for safety you could use a stainless hose and a anti rupture shut off internal
the other thing is frost protection its going to be cold out there

Last hose you would want to use for that application would be a stainless steel.

Thirty years ago, my father had a motorhome with a tankles water heater.

It was dreadfull. It used soo much gas and wasted copious amounts of water.

I have a fair bit of experience with the Chinese ones ,bought one 20 yrs age put in a shed to run adjacent cl site shower, only failure was due to it freezing 1 winter 10 ISH yrs ago ,it split a diaphragm housing ,I stripped it soldered crack in brass housing still working when we sold 2022.
I have a brand new one I bought in case original died ( keep meaning to put it on eBay)
Yes they can to come on/off when tap is opened I fitted one in an air tight(from the inside) plasterboard lined cupboard in my van..flue and vent to outside...not strictly legal as should only be accessible from outside.
I put a solenoid valve on water inlet on both my installs..one coin operated the other by micro switched tap( although could be by external switch ...
Don't oversize when buying .
Batteries last years
