With the outside chances of being able to get to Europe maybe in September improving slightly we are wondering if we might manage to get over there. Our older lab is now 13 and although she has travelled to 11 different countries and 000's of miles with us she is now stiff jointed and less energetic so struggles getting in and out of the van so sadly we leave her at home with a lovely house-sitter who she loves. So, for travelling company we now a puppy who has done a few trips in the UK and is shaping up to be very well behaved and another great travelling companion. When thinking about doing France in September we assumed a long process and wondered if we could impose the puppy on the house-sitter (she is still young so takes a bit of 'management' - the puppy that is, not the house-sitter) but then reading the new rules about vaccinating a dog to go to Europe it looks to me to be a very different process to the old system.
Under the old system there was jabs and then a titre test, which took weeks/months depending on test results. Now the guidance seems to say just a rabies jab is needed, wait for three weeks, have the correct documents to prove jab and microchip plus travel form (AHC) so in theory we could have our pup ready to go within three weeks (and after a lot of £'s spent). Just wondering has anyone on here got a dog through the initial vaccination process and is it now this simple?
Thanks!

(We have read the threads on here re the AHC and the ideas of getting European passport, and restrictions on dog food - but this is about the process of preparing a dog to be able to travel please)

The vaccination program is straight forward just get in touch with your vet and let them know what day you plan to leave the country they will then work out the best time to get rabies jag and the AHC. My whippet is getting the AHC done on the 23rd of July and we travel on the 31st if Wee krankie allows it.
