After watching my friend faf about with his was the reason I wanted the smart tv. It just seems easier.and a lot more expensive

depends on what he was 'faffing' about. the firestick really is a very versatile piece of kit. a smart tv will only be supported by app developers and the manufacturer for a few years. i have an older smart tv and you cant get any of the newer apps on it, ie all four etc. a firestick has rejuvinated it at a lot less than a new smart tv.
