Students build hand cranked washing machines

Ive just read on the bbc news about a student who has designed a hand cranked washing machine ,and other students are building them and sending to poorer countrys,and immigration camps,where there is no electricity i think its a marvellous idea,very eco friendly too

Not all that new an idea.
We used one of these in the van a few times but it broke:
Good that the people involved are providing them to people in need though.

Yes ive seen the plastic camping ones,but these look very sturdy and bigger

I think many people in third world countries are a lot more resourceful than some people give them credit for, they are still in the world of fix and repair and if not then repurpose something, brilliant engineers without ever having gained a degree in anything other than life !!

I agree. I've admired how even in dreadfully equipped and muddy refugee camps most of them seem to be well presented and have clean clothes.
I can't spend a week on a wet tenting holiday without looking like a tramp.
