Hi,
I am upgrading the speakers in my 2003 Ducato and noticed something weird, or maybe not weird if its meant to be that way.
Basically the left hand and right hand door speakers are wired correctly (woofers), cable colours match and they buzz out ok with a dvm.
The dash mounted speakers (tweeters) seem to be cross wired, ie left to right and right to left, I have confirmed this by wire colours and buzzing them out.

Is this the norm ?, the wiring loom is fully intact and cables routed correctly so either its supposed to be like that or it was wired wrong on installation.

Can anyone shed any light on this.

Oh and this is my first post so Im pleased to be a new member here and hope to use and add to the wealth of knowledge you all have :)

Hi

mine was exactly the same. ( 2005 ) the dash top speakers where opposite wired. Caused some interesting effects until I corrected. I thought mine was unique and mistake...... maybe not

Daniel. .

Hi

Yes the same on my 2005, took me a bit of head scratching to finally work it out.

Welcome simond11

Can't help with the speaker wiring though :)

I was going to replace the speakers in my own van (2010 Boxer), but funds ran out and after changing the head unit (wanted Bluetooth) the standard speakers sound okay. For a van :)

Haha so maybe its meant to be like that which is sounds strange to me (excuse the pun). Ive ordered some cable and nylon sheath to run the cable through the dash and will see how it goes.
We didnt notice the sound before as the speakers were all shot and the cone surrounds had all fell to pieces.

Thanks Wissel :).
We changed the head so we could get dab and then found out how crap the speakers were and then I uncovered the wiring :)

I just swapped the leads around at the plug end was easier ....

It's more important for the tweeters to be the correct way round than the woofers. In fact you get virtually no stereo effect from the very low end, which is why there is often only a single central 'sub-woofer'.

You can't tell where the bass comes from but the door speakers will produce mid range too so swap the tweeters to the correct sides, must be a mistake at the factory.
