Just been informed our storage site will close its doors again tomorrow at 1900 and no access again until lockdown ends. No understand they are following the guidance but its a working farm people come and go all the time. Obviously cant go away but i have work i could do at weekends.

Ours has closed as well but you can get in bye foot and if you need to move it just give 24 hours notice and you can as i have to take ours to Wales next week

I really feel for anyone who has to rely on storage facilities for there moho/c'van.
One of our must have when we bought house was parking for van.
If I had to put it storage then I really don't think I would have one.

My storage closed too but will open the gates sporadically to allow us to do some jobs.

We're going to hopefully move and space for van will be a priority. The only worry then is security because they do get stolen.

Same here. Every house I have bought first thing has always been parking & garaging for muliple vehicles along with garaging & or workshop space. if this was ok:dance2: I'd look at the house.(y)

Funny enough the Fiver is the first one we have put in storage

Hubby same - plenty of parking, large garage and outbuildings- very difficult to find with the type of 2 bedroom modern bungalow I wanted.........so gave up and bought a 4 bedroom old house instead.

Same here when we bought our bungalow knowing we where about to purchase a motorhome property had to have large drive, ours will take 4 cars and motorhome.

We have drive but moho wont fit and would block nextdoors sun all day. We have asked for access but its just no so that’s it till lockdown relaxed, very annoying but its their land so nothing we can do .

We moved from a bungalow with space for cars and motorhome to a retirement flat, and motorhome is now in storage.

Mixed feelings. We were broken into while away from the bungalow in the motorhome. Unlikely now, and I think the motorhome is pretty safe too. And it’s just 3 miles away.

Don’t miss the gardening :) Like the freedom to use the flat as a base and travel as desired (Covid willing). Miss having the motorhome on the drive and a double garage as a man-shed!

Ours is normally in storage as it takes up too much of our drive for long term, but I've brought it home for this lock down so I can do some jobs on it at my leisure.

We once put a caravan into storage, worst mistake we ever made, as looking after it became a chore due to having to travel 15 miles each way and take everything necessary for cleaning etc, so it got neglected.
So last move we made sure we had storage space, and can now go away at a moment's notice.

We're lucky in that our storage has 24/7 remote access. Ring the security, give a password and the gate magically opens. It's also only 10 minutes from home. Has full cctv and excellent high, double perimeter fencing. We don't have the space to keep ours at home and given the number of motorhomes stolen off drives, I'm glad we can't. The only minor inconvenience is not being able to get the fridge cold before going away, but ours seems to get cold enough whilst travelling on 12v.

There’s nothing wrong with our storage 5mins from home very secure and reasonable cost compared to some. Its just come lock down thats it your NOT coming in and its frustrating. I can go today but not tomorrow just daft.

Meaning???????????
Meaning YOU have a choice (I presume) ? Others don't. OR a storage facility is 99% safer for an investment of ten's of thousands of pounds as opposed to a driveway!

I have kept my motorhome in storage for several years and whilst less convenient than having it at home it is not a serious problem. When we last moved we could have included keeping it at home as a must have but decided choosing the right place to live was more important. Just a matter of choice, we all have different priorities and make our choices accordingly.

People don't always have a choice in where to keep a large vehicle like a motorhome.
Some have to rely on storage.
Luckily we had room for ours.
Choice doesn't come into it!
If someone has no choice about where they live then it certainly limits their choices. However when that person decided to buy a motorhome they must have considered the need to store it elsewhere before choosing to buy one. It is still a matter of choice.

It's a dilemma for me as well, the MH is booked in for a cambelt change and brake inspection ( squeaking) on the 25th November. The garage of course is open and happy to do the work, however the storage compound although not closed wishes to restrict access to those able to travel under the govt lockdown rules . Slightly confusing but I think I get their meaning. So for me retired a vist to the MH in storage is non essential travel . However my wife is a nurse and still working , so there's a somewhat tenuous argument for keeping it maintained in working order for emergency use. Certainly I've no wish for many reasons to fill the drive up with the MH for 1 month or however long it lasts just for one day in the garage.

I would have thought getting the motorhome out of storage to have maintenance would come under essential, as you have to get it to the garage.

Ours is in storage and won't be accessible too. However, they will connect to EHU when requested.

Mine is in storage and still available. Rarely anyone else there and entry is by contactless card so no contact with anyone. My moho has only been to my house once, and having one on the drive is a dead giveaway that youre away when its not there.

We have a storage facility. They didn’t close in the last lockdown, so I’m guessing they’ll stay open for this one too. My wife is a key worker and we have to go past there on her way to work. We come in contact with no one, just two heaving guard dogs.😧

We come into contact with nobody but good old farmer barleymo your not coming in is his reply
