In a couple of weeks it is possible that we will be travelling from San Sebastian to Alcossebre, via Pamplona and Zaragoza. I'm looking for two or three places to stop for a night or two. Our requirements are perhaps slightly unusual, we need somewhere safe to let the cats out. They are used to this and won't venture too far, but it needs to be somewhere quiet, away from busy roads and town centres. Doesn't matter whether it's a campsite, aire or 'wild'. Any suggestions?

We do the Santander - Alcossebre every January, depending on timings it's either a two stop or one. We stop at Arguedas n42,17270 e1,5913 and Zaragoza Parque de Atractions n41,61994 e0,90122. Both freebies. There's also an aire at LLedia n41,54111 e0,63917.

We are on that route at the moment so will let you know if we come across anywhere suitable.

klaatu Think Arguedas might suit you.

There is a free aire with all facilities at Alfamen, a small village just off the A23 We've stayed there many times and have always been the only ones. It's a huge space next to a park and would be perfect for your cats.

There's a quiet stop at Falces could be an alternative to Arguedas?
15min from the AP15, about 2-3hrs from San Sebastian.
It's next to a footpath and very close to the river Arga, so lots for the cats to explore.
