Stolen from Paul Frewen Motors in Chard Somerset

Oh dear.. worth a tidy sum too.

Presumably the scrotes managed to get access to the keys; if so, then it smells of an inside job.

Hmmm... just better hope it doesn't cut out when they doing 70mph and they lose control and kill someone ... you'll be sued from here to eternity...and good luck advising your insurers of that modification ....

Far better to get a proper immobiliser fitted and use it. It really is an insignificant sum compared to the cost of the van. And I've yet to see a "...immobilised van stolen off my drive..." thread

No different from the 'off' tap on a motorbike, especially one hidden under the tank. The fuel in the carb will get you down the road and it will then cut out. I don't see any liability in that arrangement.

Depending on how big the dealership is or how practical, I’d be tempted to take all the keys home at night.

Immobiliser no good if they have the keys a fuel stop valve would be better

Depends on the immobiliser.
It takes more than a bunch of keys to get my MoHo started.

Jus' sayin'

How much is it to have a fuel stop fitted please and is it easy?

if doing 70 in a 20 they might well kill a few anyway.

Fuel cut off will initially cause the drive train to go into overrun and will only decelerate, if taken out of drive will coast, so unless they deliberately target bystanders?!

What would you do if the engine died?

one of the hardest things in the auto trade is keeping track of keys a separate immobiliser fob would be every dealers night mare

just as effective is to remove a few relays from the fuse box for long term storage take a photo of the place they are removed from so you can put them back

Takes more than the keys and fob to disable my immobiliser.

But no, to all those people who want to muck about with their fuel lines and save a few quid - crack on ! All security relies partly on there being more attractive, less well protected targets out there - so the fewer people that protect their vans, the better !

Are they negligent for not having them in a safe?
Probably but it doesn’t get the van back, only helps with insurance claim and I expect they will have to wait ages before they can get a new van.
