"Stolen"......... Keep your eyes peeled...

Regretfully, another Transit. They've no hope of getting it back; the fact that the toolbox was elsewhere says to me it was stripped and "moved on" with a false registration before first light.

Feel sorry for them though after so much work in difficult times; insurance is all very well but they won't get anything like their valuation as it's a non-standard vehicle which the insurers will not be able to value them selves. They'll treat it as a "work" van.

And would you want it back, goodness knows what’s been going on with it and the state it would be in.

Great that they had an air tag in there and I’m not surprised at all with the police not being interested. Should of told them they you saw theyhad a shotgun and you a 9mm and you’re going in, you’d be surprised at how quick they’d turn up then!!!

Note to all self builders.....
Get agreed value on your van ! Especially if it's a transit😉

Had a call on Monday from a chap who does some work for me and his VW camper was stolen off his drive at 2-00 in the morning.
They broke into the house took his truck and camper keys moved the truck out the way then drove off in his camper.
He lives in Chichester.
I doubt if he will ever see that again and trouble is he will now be fighting the insurance company to try and get a fair payout, his VW is worth arounf £26-27k he says

Its a Mercedes Sprinter, not a Transit. Not easy to steal a Mercedes, but clearly it can be done.

Regretfully another Sprinter I think not a transit!

Yes. It was maths I struggled with - 3 or 4 attempts I recall.
Funny you should mention maths. I did maths for my matriculation in 1973 in South Africa. You had to pass maths which I did. Later, when I came to the UK and was accepted to study economics, they said that they didn’t recognise my matriculation and I had to sit 3 A levels and O level maths. I passed the A levels but when it came to sit the O level maths paper, instead of it being a paper requiring knowledge of algebra, geometry and trigonometry, it was full of stuff about Venn diagrams, sets, subsets, matrices etc. I didn’t have a clue not having studied this. So, not having O level maths, I passed my economics degree which required a lot of stats, calculus and mathematical modelling. Would hate to have to learn maths now. 😱

keeping eye open channel tunnel and ferry route Dover as nr M20

Two Ducati based vans were stolen in two weeks from Wirral from location 6 miles apart one was found by the owners in a scrap yard in Liverpool ‘hiding’ probably waiting for the ferry. The second only this week,Wirral has just four routes out as it’s a peninsula two of those are the tunnels through to Liverpool which has CCTV and its own Police force the other routes include the M53 and then A540. After the second taking the Police should be aware, it seems around here they are too busy with PR schemes rather than looking for criminals!

The police advised us not to keep our moho on the drive because gthieves were going around taking note of what was where and then stealing them to order. We've always paid out for storage since then.

looks like a renault to me

If not for the consequences it would be satisfying to have parts inside the van wired to mains , that would stop the thieving bxxxxstewards permanently :swear2:

In storage the thieves have plenty of choice and generally take a few every time they visit. That is why the insurance companies load policies for motorhomes and caravans on storage sites

Before anyone says cassoa storage sites are better, if you knew the truth it would shock you. They can be the worst choice as customers believe the marketing. Cameras only good after the event, if indeed they are working/on. On site security checks once a night by a man in a van on minimum wage, same time every night like clockwork. They don't hang about ever, as they need to keep moving to visit all their allocated customers

My insurance company (Comfort) wont cover my van parked at home at all.
But will cover it where it's parked in secure storage.

The checklist for 'secure' storage and 'Cassoa Gold' storage is the same for Comfort.
They want to know how entry is gained to the compound.
Does it have 24hr cover
Cameras and fencing

The most odd requirement was 'is caravan/motorhome storage the primary business for the storage location ?"
I was looking at storing my van at an equestrian centre.
They had a purpose built fenced, lit, CCTV'ed, gated, storage compound, that was filled with millions of pounds worth of horse boxes, horse lorry/motorhome combos, event trucks, Landrovers, caravans and other horse related vehicles.
Comfort would not cover motorhome storage there as the main business was horses not motorhomes!

Ours was in non registered storage site for 7 years. The owner and family lived at the only entrance and knew everyone that came on site. He had a shotgun and wasn’t afraid to wave it about. Somehow this didn’t seam to reduce our insurance premium, oh well I now reply on the taser mounted in the drivers seat.
