Has anyone managed to get any anywhere in SE England? Want to get prepared for a late August trip but none locally. We still have some in one bottle but hard to say how much ...
Thinking we will take an electric plate away with us and heater in case but would rather get gas.

Ten days ago I phoned 9 stockists in South Sussex (garages, garden centres, chandlers, camp sites, ironmongers) and visited 4 more without luck. I eventually phoned the main Calor distribution depot at Shoreham harbour who had six. I paid by phone to reserve one and drove straight there in 25 minutes. When I arrived he had only mine left plus two motorhomes with very disgruntled owners sighing in the yard.

Would a calor gas centre refill your bottle?

I asked that from the yard guy at the Shoreham distribution depot who said he previously worked at the filling centre in Kent but was told that the public weren't allowed in for H&S reasons.

Thanks. I will ring main distributors for where we live and Crawley as we store the motorhome there. Otherwise plan B (electric plate etc)!

Give the main distributor a ring at Crawley..........if they have a refill buy it over the phone and exchange when you go to the storage.

Get a Wallas diesel heater/hob, fed from your main diesel tank and is very economical. You will gain a cupboard and it’s non toxic and much less chance of explosion in a crash.

I passed numerous garages in West Wales last weekend and they seemed to have plentiful supplies . Might be a good excuse to drive down and stay a few nights. CLs that we use are still relatively cheap. Or you could go online and type in propane supplies West Wales . Try this link Broken Link Removed .That might give you a response.

Can you get diesel fridges as well?

My caravanning neighbour didnt know about the Calor shortage. He's off to the IoW next month and has two empty calorlite bottles. He texted his pal who drives for Calor and he said he's never known it as bad. He confirmed a short delivery of 6kg bottles to a local outlet, but said you can forget about getting a calorlite bottle anytime soon. He also confirmed that the Carlisle depot hasn't reopened since the first lockdown.

We had one in our old VW T6, took a while to reach cooking temp but once it did it was fine..... as a heater it was really good too. That said we now have 2 x 11kg refillable gas bottles in the new Van and boiling a kettle is massively quicker on the gas hob

I was struggling to get any gas round here (east lincs). No local suppliers had any.

Jim suggested I go to the main depot. They had plenty. They weren't selling new bottles, but would do swap outs. They said they could always do swaps, but not new bottles.

I've just got a 6kg cylinder from the Southampton Calor depot, they had run out yesterday, but had some in today. I also found out they deliver for free In the local area.
