Hi people
The awning started to to stick in one end on rewind and roll out. The motorhomer on the neighbouring plot said he also has the same problem ..." probably dust and grit. Had it for years - just maybe needs a good brush out"
So WD40 time! I cleaned the plastic catch and gave a generous squirt to the workings high level on the motorhome body and awning end. It did improve slightly, but it was still reluctant to close or open smoothly.
Fearing the worst, I was resigned to being one of the many wonky awning owners.
However, as I inspected the other end of the awning for comparison to see if any plastic was broken or miss shaped, above the support legs I noticed an inch square of red reflective tape was missing off the trouble end. The adhesive had remained and it was still tacky ... could it be that simple?
Yesssireee, an inch square of Gaffa Tape carefully positioned over the original adhesive shape ... and Eeeesey Peeesey, the awning glides in and out faultlessly.
I can only guess that the plastic parts in the lock/ unlock mechanism are close fitting and the adhesive was preventing free movement somehow.
I hope this may help some one.
