stereo with android auto and maps?

Most Android satnav apps don't have a vehicle size feature. In my experience, the ones that do don't provide enough benefit over just using Google Maps. Because for almost every journey, size doesn't make a difference. When it does, the 'aware' apps often get it wrong and they'll still guide you down narrow lanes. But pretty much every journey, Google Maps will give better routing, guidance and traffic info.
Pioneer units come with Sygic which does allow the addition of sizing of your motorhome. Works well but you do need to check your route before you head off. It never puts you under a to smal bridge, but it has some interesting ideas on how to save a minute driving.

I've got Sygic Truck as an Android Auto app. But I generally run it on a tablet. Yes, it allows sizing. Running it side by side with Google Maps... I find less issues with Maps.

we are completely new to this. can any mobile app that allows custom vehicle dimensions be used via android auto?

thanks :)
Not seen it mentioned here, but I have Eurowag app on my phone. Truck orientated so all the sizes, and features you'd expect.

There's an Avtex Tourer 2 in classifieds, if it's still available.

Thank you everyone.
Were just going tk gk with the Google maps option for now. Will see how it goes :)

hi,

we are just waiting on delivery of our 2004 pilote atlantis a5.
it has a single din stereo and an old reversing camera in the cab.

we are looking to modernise the camera quite soon after getting the mh.

we dont currently have a sat nav and i was wondering whether it would be better to get a new double din stereo with android auto/maps etc (current stereo needs updating anyway)
or
something like the garmin avtex tourer one ?

My experience is that Android Auto delivers a poor unintuitive interface and isn't sufficiently stable to be relied upon for navigation. Others may have had better experiences than me.

I use a double din Panasonic unit and use the Apple car play (not android but same principle).
We tried using the Apple Maps on the double din unit rather than have a separate Tomtom unit. However found the reflections on the screen were often an issue so now have a separate Tomtom go unit which is brilliant- and overcomes the reflections issue of the double din unit.

Kenwood dmx5020.

I put it on 3 years ago and it's been excellent. If you get the kit when you purchase, it is plug and play. I also fitted a windscreen mounted dash aerial and the reception is as good as the car.

The only unintuitive bit I've found is the link between the stereo's UI and when it flips to android auto. Stability issues are normally down to a flaky cable, it can be very touchy. With a wireless dongle, the problem goes away. I can drive for weeks without a 2 second glitch.

Another vote for Atoto, works really well with a split screen and wireless Android Auto. I had a minor problem when I first got it and their backup service was very good.
Mine is an F7XE with a 10" screen, comes with a remote that you strap around the steering wheel that works brilliantly.
