Hi Top Roller Team
Exp
2014
Hi, does anybody go to the outdoor steam fairs around the uk:smiley:

For many years we have attended the one at Welland Mr Malvern 👍👍 usually with grandkids. Great weekends.
Also often do a rally near Llandudno at the bank holiday Victorian weekend where they also have a steam fair.

Hi, we live not far from Llandudno but have never been. We try and do the ones that the Outdoorshows put on but was wondering what other companies do steam fairs.

There's a good one at Shrewsbury August Bank Holiday
and a smaller one at Shrewsbury showground in July

That sounds like a good one to go too. Will have to look out next year for it, thanks.

We always have a steam fair at Rainscombe House, Oar, Marlborough ,Wilts. It’s not the biggest but a lovely setting, the proceeds go to Wiltshire Bobbyvan Trust, which I became involved with back in 1998.😊

Go to quite a few, not counting this year. as a member of the Lancaster Slow Riders we display our old and mostly slow motorbikes at many shows between Earls Barton and Preston. Sadly two have been cancelled for next year already.

As scout fellowship we ran the car parking for the Brockelsby Steam Fair in our part of Lincolnshire. It was a good weekend if a bit life threatening by crazy motorists. Being a smaller show it had a nice atmosphere.
I did say we would like to stay overnight at a steam fair to take in the atmosphere in the evening when the crowds have gone home.

Lucky one dont you do the steam fairs Hilary?

Haven't see you for ages, hope you're well(y)

Since I have been retired, I have been showing at about 22 rally’s a year spread over most of England.
Because of the Virus every one of them has had to be canceled this season.
Its not looking good for next year either, dozens of clubs have had to make the decision not to run, it takes months of planning ahead, marques, toilets, beer, food ,car parking etc😟 as a member of two clubs ( I’m a steward 😇) the clubs simply cannot take the financial risk of even trying to put a show on 😟

Hopefully we will go again in 2021 taking our 1946 VW Beetle to display. As an entrant this show makes a great free long weekend away even if it's only 15 miles from home.

We used to take our Moggy Minor but I can't show a car and take the moho so I really want to get a static engine.

Have been on the organising committee for Rempstone Steam fair for over 10 years.
usually do half a dozen or so over the season

Did the Dorset a few year's back for the 50th, absolutely huge and loved it - took the electric bike to get around 👍

Only thing I know about Steam Fairs is my dad used to drag me along as a a kid and he knew this really cool bloke who had a steam engine called Lord Robert, and at West Wycombe when I was a lad I got to drive it.

I loved it because it was Black and gold, my have made an impression as later in life, I loved Lotus F1 JPS, and therefore became a Senna fan, still a big fan of historic racing today and own and drive an historic lotus in Black and gold

We had a Funster meet last year at The Pembrey Steam Fair. Big turn out of engines of all sorts, static/mobile
It was great meet organised by Stuart Silkcut1105 & Ray swanseajack13
Happy Days.(y):giggle:

Hi, we have been going to them the last couple of years and take one of the bikes with us to display. It will be a shame if non run next year.:(

Thanks for all the info on the steam fairs, appreciate it.

If you are referring to the Shrewsbury show then yes you can take a car and the moho provided that you book in early for a place on the camp site. It's also advisable to be there on the Thursday to be reasonably sure of getting a good spot for the moho and car. In 2019 they had changed the system and had marked out plots to try to prevent the crowding in.

Yes, that's what we used to do but now I am flying solo, it's not possible to drive two vehicles 😟

Ah, that's understandable. What a pity, Shrewsbury show is a great weekend.

Are you local? If so possibly membership of the Salop Yesteryear Club could help. We've not met socially in almost a year due to Covid but hopefully that will change in 2021.
