I'm an oldbie MH number 10
I have specific questions that I would like answers too. Yes I know there is a multi page thread on the subject, but they don't reflect my info so it would be rude to point me there.

I/we are going on an adventure and it's an absolute necessity that I have internet whilst I am away. So I am hoping for some reassurance/answers to the following and for those familiar to check my thinking.

I am going to get a Starlink Roam and I am going to get the £50 50GB package. My understanding is that I can only use it "continuously" outside of the UK for two months. I was therefore thinking that I would bring it back on the plane set it up back home and then take it back with me. This because I am flying back every 3 weeks. Is this feasible is my first question (I have no idea how big it all is packed up). We are away for 3 months so I would only have to do it on one journey.
Also, does this / would this solve the problem? ie would setting it up back at home equate to breaking the two months away? can't see anything in the contract so interested in those frequent travelers.

Next, assuming the above is not the best way, is it best to mount the dish to the roof and have it properly "plumbed in" or is best on a tripod? I have plenty of storage and am thinking the tripod route to avoid issues with trees etc? what other methods are there?

we are going to Scandinavia right up to Nordkap back via Finland, Estonia, Poland Germany etc. The footprint points to it all working well in these places, but is there anything that I should be aware of? my phone company says their signal is brilliant but it's useless in some places.

TIA

I know you don’t want to be pointed to the LONG thread but everything your asking is in there and has been discussed to a level of detail that can’t fail to impress.

Your plan will work, as in, use in the UK and you reset the two months out of country roaming.

It’s personal choice where you mount it or don’t, again lots and lots of ideas in the big thread, including tripods, poles, permanent and semi permanent roof mount etc etc.

Nordkap had some of the best 5G coverage of anywhere I’ve been when I was there fishing, literally in the middle of nowhere and often 15miles offshore, truly impressive!

Edit: the mini dish (for your use case) will probably be your best bet and it’s quite an easy unit to transport..

As far as Finland goes, I've heard there have been some occasional Starlink connectivity issues close to the eastern border since it's supposed to not work in Russia and apparently occasionally gets a bit confused on where the borders go. I guess it shares that trait with a certain czar-wannabe next door :-)
4G/5G coverage is pretty good though so don't see many people with Starlink here.

I've heard this said.

Therefore, I did think of taking the usual Sim cards etc with my 5g wifi and then only having to use Starlink as a back up.

But presumably I would have to use it in the UK first otherwise I would be having it registered in Finland or whatever country there is an issue with.
