Any one with much knowledge of this box. On the motorway it stopped selecting gears and felt like it was in a limp mode. It didn't kill the power just felt like it stole 30 percent. Can select gears manually and turning it off did reset it but then it happened again. Through gears 1,2 and 3 it is fine on auto but then stops selecting gears so guessing a sensor is on its way out. Did not try setting off in manual so will try that in the morning.
Any advice gratefully received.

Maybe a year and model would help.
Along with a location.

Either way sounds like a job for a garage.

I found an informative thread through google which brought me back here. When I searched through the forum it didnt give any direct results which i thought was strange. It was on my phone though and i have massive fingers.

The Main Problems with this Robotised manual are:

Clutch Position Sensor
Hydrolic Pump
Relay
Gearbox ECU

Did you get any errors come up on the dash, like "F2"?

I had no end of issues with mine. No Mercedes Dealer could ever fault find on it.

They just offered a Trial and error repair. That is, replace the pump, if that fails to resolve the issue, replace the clutch sensor, etc. But they want paying for each individual job, regardless of if it worked or not. At the time, it was around £850 per try.

I ended up using a company in Farnworth. One of the 3 brothers owned a motorhome and he was on a similar forum to this. They sent the ECU off for reprogramming , did not work so they replaced that and it was fine. But they closed and I sold the motorhome.

Let me know if you have any errors on the Dash when it starts with the issue.

We have a Frankia based on a sprinter 416 CDI with a SprintShift box. We've had a couple of issues tag have caused problems with limp home mode. The first was due to stuck variable vanes on the turbocharger and we had a rebuilt turbo fitted. The second needed a new ABS controller, now only available from MB . Both we diagnosed and repaired by JRW Commercials in Nailsea, North Somerset. John is very good on SprintShifts. His opinion of needing a replacement turbo is that a motorhome doesn't get enough regular use and combined using regular diesel results in the variable vanes sticking. It makes sense as I had a MB E class estate with the same engine, driven long distances on most days; at 350,000 miles the turbo was still original, as were most parts. Had to get rid of it due to too much rust.

No fault codes
No lights on dash
Checked brake lights were working
Started the next day and drove off in manual and it was fine for over 200 miles
Had a bit of a play with connectors on the pump which seemed a bit loose and it drove off fine in auto from getting gas.
Didnt want to risk it as another 200 iles on motorwat so just drove in manual and it was fine.
The pump comes on with ignition for about 8 seconds and then quietens down but doesnt stop - is this normal.
Sounds like a trip to Nailsea is on the cards unless anyone has reccomendations nearer to plymouth.

Thanks
Already done that but the reseating of the plugs seems to have cured it for now. Will be handy if he answers to have someone to speak too.
