Hi

Just changed to windows 10 from windows 7. and note the the spell check does not work on the forum now?. I will have to look into why, But no one has a quick answer do they?.

Cheers Pete

Hopefully its now working brilliant
(y)(y)

OR it`s now working. What is required is to ADD relevant dictionary to your browser. if any one else is having that issue?. Windows 10 is still a PITA though.

apparently the chap who invented spellcheck has recently passed away.
may he roast in piss.

Hi. Asking for SWMBO. Did you upgrade the software yourself or get a new PC/laptop? Thanks

I changed my laptop from W7 to W10 a week ago. Had a techy chap do it for £80 incl. the 10 package but I do find it a PITA for numerous reasons - the main one may be unfamiliarity so persevering.
I'm told it depends somewhat on having sufficient capacity on the 'C' disk. Mine has 451GB and still has approx 330GB unused.

I would expect it to be enabled by default but you can check it is by following the instructions below.

Open Settings, (by right clicking over the Start icon) and click/tap on the Devices icon.

2 Click/tap on Typing on the left side, and turn on (default) or off Autocorrect misspelled words for what you want.

3 Turn on (default) or off Highlight misspelled words for what you want.

I like Windows 10 but it takes a few days to get used to it. Give it time. :)

I did the update when it first became available (Free) from Microsoft, onto 3 machines, and have been running both it (10) and 7 on a Dual boot. I prefer 7, but once M-S stopped support I have been trying to get to grips with 10. Once I get it sorted, I then have to "do" SWMBO`s!!. In the early days of 10 it was terrible. IMV even worse than 8!, the latest version(s) are more stable. But personally as someone quite happy with a keyboard and Mouse. I find the "Tablet" format of 10 annoying to say the least. At the moment I seem to have a Hybrid a combination of icons on my desktop and "apps" on the startup screen?.

I also have a LOT of Legacy software, some that I used first on Windows 95. That is giving me most headaches as I HATE the idea of buying stuff I don`t need, just the get what I do need!. Paying an annual fee now for "office" is a No No. Fingers crossed so far office 2006 which I have on disk is working. But I have had to change my E-Mail software (to Thunderbird) as "Mail" is no longer supported on 10. Why is it that "they" have to fix what is not broke?

Have you tried Libre Office? it can do pretty much all that Microsoft office does, including saving and reading Microsoft Office files and it's free.
