Not moho related, but domestic waste. Is there a special tool to remove this kitchen sink waste? Or do I just bash it with the biggest screwdriver I have and a hammer? There is a slot that would take an absolutely massive flat head screwdriver. I doubt they exist that big, so I'm thinking special tool? Help appreciated.

There's probably a nut under it that you might bet a socket or spanner on. If you put an ordinary flat blade into the slot on one side only, that'll usually loosen it.

Or an old wood chisel.

That screw is to release the trap underneath. Yes a big screw driver and a hammer will do the job just fine it you want to fu*k it up completely 👍

Not a plumber but from memory isn’t there usually a big plastic nut on the underside which you undo and the waste lifts out from the top

Screwdriver on top and a pair of union pliers underneath is how to do it.

 That's what I was afraid of. So what's the answer?

Edit: Crossed.

Any flat blade that is big enough will unscrew the centre, dropping the outlet the other side. No there is not a nut on the other side normally, as it’s integral to the outlet.

No nut underneath. It would have to be the world's biggest screwdriver though.

Then throw it away as it won't be any good as a wood chisel any more!
Yea of little faith!

Most of us old blokes have at least a couple of old ones sitting about. The kind you can thrash with a hammer when needed.
We dont all have to use the best ones as a 'plumbing tool' when we have an old one or two we can beat up.....lol ;) (y)

Top tip. Undo and empty the waste trap below first, unless you like smelly puddles and whinging from the other half.

So, biggest screwdriver I could find, gently tapped with hammer to get it started, then easily unscrewed with fingers. Dead easy in the end. All cleaned out and reassembled. Thanks for all the suggestions. Serious and otherwise...........
