We normally do 6-7 weeks in Europe in Sep-Oct, but are now thinking of a couple of months in Spain in the New Year. Benidorm isn't really our scene, apart from the odd day trip. Any thoughts on Denia in general, Los Pinos specifically, as a quieter but hopefully comfortable location? Any other suggested 6-7 week stay locations that may still have vacancies?

When do ferry and tunnel operators publish their winter schedules? These dates seem to be unavailable at present.

Appreciate it's a pretty generic enquiry, but we're open to suggestions...

Thanks...Keith

What do you plan to do during this time? I'm curious to know why spend time in Spain then rather than somewhere warmer like Morocco or Goa.

Happy to just be somewhere where the temperature is better than 5 degrees. Eat, drink, read, walk, visit other locations by public transport or maybe even hire a car for some of the time. Goa's a long drive! Might consider Morocco, but that too is a long way from Scotland.

Other may advise better but I'd go further south to find warmth. Goa appears to be reasonably good value for money for the winter (but I've no experience with it). Jan and Feb in Spain can be cool and wet and limited in fun.

Try Benicassim 3 different campsites that I know of, Bonterra Park, camping Tauro, Camping Azahar catering for all budgets. Nice Spanish town, stunning dog friendly beach. Check out reviews of each and the town. Just north of Valencia

Never read of anyone going to Goa in there motorhome, has anyone done it?

Brittany ferries will be announcing their 2023 sailings soon. Here's the link to get notified.

However, we always drive and enjoy France rather than the Bay of Biscay in January!
Unless you stay on aires I suggest that you book Spanish coastal campsites in advance for January and Feb as they are busy, especially Benicassim. We always repeat book on leaving in March.

It is true that the Costa Tarongers, Dorada and Brava can be hit and miss in the winter - It depends what you expect and what set up you have - when it's good (like this year) it was very good- T-shirts in January - but then there was a colder spell which saw hard frosts on the cars in the mornings in early April. I have seen daffodils still blooming as late as early May.

It seems that the costa Valencia gets a better deal with the weather, but I think it all depends on the sun - if you have a clear day here, then the sun is always warm - up to 18C in January/February, but the night temperatures will fall - a lot - maybe even up to -7C, so you need to be ready for that. It can chuck it down here as well, but a day where it does nothing but rain is unusual, as are the grey days with no real weather. These happen, but only for v.short periods.

The weather here is much more entertaining than it was in Ireland!

We have a house in Javea. The weather is usually good until mid to late feb.

We don’t really like Denia (we call it the dark side). But don’t knock Benidorm, it’s a very nice place and has everything for most people.

Lee me know if you need help with Brittany ferries

Not that I'm aware of but if folk are looking for warmth in Jan / Feb, there are alternative holidays that might not cost much more than going to Spain in a mh and the weather is more likely to be warm.

If you do stay in Denia avoid Camping Los Llanos like the plague, its the worst of everything, makes a shanty town look posh! C and CC club advertised it for one of their winter stays in 2016, it has never appeared back,! Says volumes Trip advisor reviews focus on the rental bungalows in the main. We made the mistake of believing the pictures on line and booked for a month..............purgatory!

We had our longest winter in Spain this year, mostly because it was the only place that would let us in. I think for the OPs wishes yes with a bit of care it delivers a pleasant climate withgenerally more going on and more possibilities to socialise outside ( that was a big issue this year) Benidorm was even quite nice because the groups couldnt fly there so it was peaceful although local businesses were struggling.

The downside this year was that we werent able to move on to Morocco because the ferries didnt open,so a lot of the camper areas were rammed. We do think Morocco is a better winter destination in a mh and hkping for our 5th trip next year but one step at a time for the Op.

We’ve spent late Oct to mid Dec in Beni (yes I know you don’t want to go there) for a few years and the weather was lovely for walking and cycling plus sitting out. One year we couldn’t go then and had to go mid Jan until early March and it was cool and damp. We said never again, it wasn’t worth the bother or expense. We’d rather have a couple of weeks in the Canaries. We were in jeans and jumpers most days, even Nick plus a puffa jacket due to the cold wind.
