Hi all,
I’ve been looking at the campsites in the Lloret area of Spain for August but plan to just travel with three other Motorhomes and just book on sites as we travel.
My question is are the sites really busy in August or will it be easy to book on as we go.

???

Hot, hot, hot ☀️☀️☀️ and Spanish holidays in August, so could be very busy and high season prices.

(We leave in the summer ?)

August is a "mega" time for campsites in Spain. The Spanish themselves will be out in force and sites packed and noisey. 1 van might have a chance of hopping around and getting pitches, 4 vans I think you will really push it and struggle. Best to book BUT get ready for the prices. :Eeek:
Also be aware how hot it will be, Travelled a few times to Benidorm in July / August so "got the T shirt".

Just my view (y)

The part of Spain you are going to is not as hot as it is further south. We have been going to that area for years and now have a caravan permanently based there which we drive down to or fly to every year at some point. We are usually in the area and travelling round for the whole of August and part of September.
As said above August is busy, Spanish holidays. Don't let it put you off though. I would say that if your travelling with 4 Vans you'd need to book in advance on most sites, especially on the coast. Singularly you might be okay but not a group.
Take a look at Globo Rojo. it's a small family run site on the coast, in a small Catalan village about 45 minutes from Lloret. We love it there.

I doubt you would enjoy it even if you got on a site, very noisy even late evening and lovely children having the time if their lives everywhere.

Very hot and probably rammed.

The Spanish will have moved onto the sites by Mid June.

Also the Spanish love to party - they will not even come off the beaches till near mid-night in August.

After a shower then dinner and a few beers beckon.

Spanish hours in August are as others have already said totally different to what the Brits are used to ?
They don’t even think about going out for dinner until after 10 pm and if you think Brits can be noisy you haven’t lived ????

Some strange ideas of Spain and the Spanish on here. Not everywhere is like Benidorm. Once all the fogies have woken up and gone into hibernation for the summer it can be a lovely place. Ignore the negative comments and enjoy yourselves.

Wouldn’t recommend Cámping Lloret Blau, full of junkies and people sleeping in cars. Moved on the next day after a disturbed night sleep. I didn’t like Lloret de Mar - sleezy.

I live in a spanish area & what others have stated is the norm here. Girl next door never used to pick my daughter up until between 10 & 11pm to go out. Not many spaniards go out to eat at weekends before 9,30pm. Next doors kids don't come out to play until the sun has set & then it isn't unusual to have football against the gate from 11pm onwards.

Packed , hot and full of Dutch.

I would give it a miss.

Totally agree. We have camped in Spain at Playa Montroig for many years during August. Never too hot or too noisy. It’s a large site but usually quiet by midnight. Never had any problems getting a good nights sleep. I think it’s just a matter of choosing the right site. However in August it’s pricey but the facilities are so good I think it’s worth it.

Ditto weekends at anytime. I always have a quick reccie before I pitch on Spanish sites putting as much space between me and any empty permanent vans as I can. They inevitably come to life at the weekend when the whole extended family moves in. Not complaining, good luck to them, but don’t want to be too near them either!

If travelling to Spain, we always book in August, we have winged it in the past, but some sites are grim and still want 60euros plus per night (it's not always practical to screen them in advance).
Camping is so expensive just as well book and ensure something half decent.
This year we're doing Camping Sanguli (115euros per night) and Bonterra Park (about 70euros per night).
We don't mind the noise and love the party atmosphere so it suits us well.
Also agree with the Lloret comments, I wouldn't go unless I was a single teenager, the town serves one purpose

Crickey and I moan if I have to pay 20 euros a night at Bonterra Park...BUSBY.

We'll be attending Rototom Sunsplash in August, so it works for us.
We'd also argue that rather than staying at Sanguli or Montroig Camp, we're actually saving a few hundred euros a week by staying at Bonterra- crazy I know!

For more than 10 years we have been heading for Spain and love it. Yes there can be noisy places, especially when the Spanish holidays begin. Weekends can be filled with "Fiesta" which can mean none stop music all night. Some go on until after 6 a.m.. This is not everywhere.
Spain is hot or in the south, very hot, so children play out at night, unlike Victorian Britain, they can be seen and heard.
Anywhere on the Costas can be expensive during the high season when seaside camping can cost over £50 a night. It depends what you are looking for as there are many borderline 'Aires' including swimming pools for much less but arrive early.
Read the ACSI camping book to get a good idea what is worth going for. You could also book ahead but unless you are out of seasons peak, their prices will not be available, so check first.

We would never say anything to malign our Spanish friends, but we stayed on a site in Sanluca de Barrameda (which is a long way from Benidorm) during July/August 2017.
It was uncomfortably (at times unbearably) hot,,, and the Spanish families certainly knew how to enjoy themselves (they do not enjoy themselves quietly, we had 8+ weeks to reach this conclusion).
The Spanish tend to let their children run amok , and the kids tend to shout, and laugh, a lot,,, like they're still shouting and laughing at 1.30 am!
(Believe it or not, when the Spanish rocked up to the site the Spanish site owner locked the washing machine room,,, apparently the kids would rip the cash machines off the wall!!!) .
They, (the Spanish) were quite a friendly bunch though, and their kids laughter is infectious,,, and we kinda got used to listening to several different radio stations,,, at the same time!
However,,, wot we wouldn't subject ourselves to a second time is the heat,,,
Simply put,,, in July/August,,, Itz WAY too hot Man !

As I lived in the real Spain amongst Spanish I have had a lot of experience in summer and the Spanish hours and loved every minute of it ?
My kids at 6 and 8 were still out playing in the early hours of the morning, the lad went off on a fishing boat with Spanish guys (total strangers)
at gone 1.0 am ???

We live in Spain, decided to go to Ireland this summer to avoid the heat, noise and overcrowding.....providing we are not on lockdown, if we are , we will have to panic buy essentials (beer, wine and earplugs ) and put the aircon on......

I love that site. Never been during the summer holidays but spent several Easter’s there.

As you say - great facilities.

Fantastic site. And if you can afford it, beach front.

HOT HOT and more HOT......... we stayed in Spain last year because friends wanted to visit and we all cooked. The roof was so warm you could cook an egg on the tiles. We had the aircon on 247 for friends who stayed they would never visit again in August (thank God!)
Then there are the Spanish folk who have their hols in that month...............busy streets, busy beaches, busy places to eat......... and very loud to add to the mix. Other than that yes come in August you will enjoy it.

Done it a couple of times over 20 years ago in a caravan with the kids. Often got the last pitch, will be difficult with 4 vans unless you book. In winter they give you a double pitch in summer you only get a single often can't open your windows without hitting the van next door.

I doubt you would enjoy it even if you got on a site, very noisy even late evening and lovely children having the time if their lives everywhere.
You were obviously on a very quiet sight, when we did it in August dust cart came round at 1:30am, disco until 4am neighbours TV in the awning full blast until 2am.
There can't be a noisier race than the Spanish.
