Hi All,
I noticed that the freezer door lock wasn't working properly and was stopping the fridge closing. Took door off to access the catch and the lock had pushed round too far, coming out of its guide.

Now the plate below has broken in two, the rest of the catch looks OK and will work once all slotted back where it should be.

Rather than glue the plate back together, i was thinking of buying a new part, which I have identified (See below) but comes as a complete kit and is £26.

Can anyone suggest where I could get just this part, second hand would work. I will glue if all else fails ;-)

I don't think you will glue it successfully - cant you make a new one out of SS steel/aluminium?

I wouldn't worry too much and think glue would hold, but it where the main screw / hinge point for the catch is and seems to work a bit like a washer

I used your Yorkshire War Cry ;-)

i would try good glue that part doesn't move as long as you don't put the screw in over tight might hold

Use a good quality glue. Make sure it has time to cure and I would think that it would be OK.

A non-moving part.

Glue it is ;-) I have time as the MoHo has just gone off to the garage (Minus Freezer door) in preparation of easing of lock down :-)

if they were handing out awards for the worst piece of technical design that dometic lock would win hands down

cant See that part on our database !

what make or brand is it ?

do you have a model number on the rating plate or better still a product code if it’s Dometic

no problem send us your address and i'll get the wife down the post office

i know you now have a new one on the way, thanks to a very kind funster, but if i had to glue something like that, then i would try to make a copy using thin aluminium or similar and glue it all together, so the aluminium gives the glued joint a lot more strength so youre not just relying on glue along the joint itself, think of the aluminium as a splint for a broken leg !!

Was think of that, but fits flush so might sit proud or foul the catch. Certainly going to copy once all fitted back, as might help others in future
