When washing the bus this week I noticed the passenger wiper blade was split.
Decided to replace them both with Bosch Aerotwins - Pair for £19 ish delivered ebay. Bargain.
2 minute, easy job.
BTW. Fiat Ducato 26" drivers 22" passengers side 2006 on

Too late for you now but I purposely bought slightly oversized wipers for my Ducato (1999) compared to book and get a bit more screen wiped on every pass now (compared to what manual says).

I got Screwfix wiper blades they're pretty good I've got them on all our vehicles now.

ASDA
Brilliant quality, £7 a side for big ones
£3 for small ones AND zero plastic packaging

Wiper blades are cheap as chips to make now a days. Most are made in China  :rolleyes: and sold under all manner of brands

2nd vote for asda one's

Although mine did come with plenty of plastic packaging

I remember it well because I changed the rear blade on my discovery and it wiped worse than the worn out one I removed

Turns out there was a plastic blade protector on it ?

The latest product ( identical to the old product) is now in cardboard boxes not plastic blisters
Admittedly, they do still have the thin plastic protective sheath as you describe ?

Probably my bad luck but I bought Bosch wiper blades from E Bay for managements Polo and the Duetto. One of the Polo blades split in two weeks, both the Duetto blades juddered and were noisy.
I tried to get a re-fund but it came to nothing.
After a search on the internet I found a company ”Wiper Blades.co.uk. They are not as cheep as E Bay but they have a good selection and have fast delivery. At the moment Bosch Aerotwin are £22.96 a pair for the Rienza.

I shudder at the very thought of fitting wiper blades. Over the years I have needed many wiper blades for an assortment of vehicles. My first Morris Minor series 2 I think it was that I first discovered how sharp parts of wiper blades can be. Following many trails of blood from a succession of assorted vehicles, I finally managed to fit the latest adapted blade fitting but not before cutting my finger trying to rip apart the plastic vacuum moulded container.
As an aside, I was looking to buy a Rover some years ago and actually examined the wiper fittings. They slipped out of my hand and the blade thumped into the show car window, and smashed it!
I have a thing about wiper blades!

My boss at the bus garage lifted the blades off the screen of a B10 Volvo coach to change the blades. He took one blade off to use a sample for the stores. On route to the stores there was loud bang as the wiper arm arm hit the screen.
That was an expensive pair of wiper blades.

Between us my OH and I have several degrees- have tried hands with success at many DIY jobs , fixed many a thing with help from U Tube - but despite videoing the removal of wiper blades; watching the nice man at Halfords replace the offending articles on the last Moho ( even more of ordeal than cars- we didn’t even attempt this) trying for hours each time cars needed doing: re watching the How To videos on U tube and even reading the instructions on the packet
We have never successfully replaced them in under an hour with lots of tears and gritted teeth .... what is your secret? Or is it Just Us ?

It's just you - sorry?

A little against my judgement I bought a pair of blades off one of the regular touts in Morocco couple of years ago. They turned out to be Bosch and have lasted a hell of a lot longer than the incredibly expensive Fiat items that an ill-guided garage decided the van needed.

Sometimes a Chinese puzzle

On a practical level is it not worth taking wiper blades off? The rubber perishes if left on a vehicle for 18 months so taking them off and leaving them on the steering wheel until the wagons roll again might be the best option.

Generally the first one takes longer as you have to remember which bit of the clip to press, the second one is usually quicker, unless of course you have a brew half way through and forget how you did the first one

The garage that I use keeps a roll of the wiper rubber.

When a blade is worn out or damaged, he cuts off the required length, slides out the old, slides in the new length.

Usually no charge.

But I suspect it gets added to the 'Consumables' item on the next service bill.

I tried this once, really. I did not need stitches but it was a near thing.

I remove mine when I park it up for any length of time. Lack of use of the blade kills them.

Was getting fed up with smeary wiper blades 2 days ago so ordered some Bosch Aero blades.
Cleaned and clayed the windscreen ready for them to arrive.

I try to avoid taking the van out in the rain, don't like it getting dirty.

When in Spain last year at several places we stopped at we saw the Spanish putting bottle corks under the wiper arm so as to just keep the blade away from the glass. Thought it was a great idea so thats what we do now if parked up for a while.

The last ones I did buy for the van though where from a Portuguese supermarket, just their own brand ones, very cheap and have been brilliant.

There's no need to buy corks, people would give them to me for free.. ?

Hubby puts corks under the wiper arms, then forgets they’re there & I have to go find them!
Men have trouble finding things......don’t they Paul?

I have put corks under my wiper arms now for more years than I can remember, I drill a small hole right thru the side of the cork and thread a length of nylon cord thru it an knot it to stop it pulling back out I tie the other end to the w/washer rubber tube, cos if I accidentally knock the wiper stalk whilst driving the three corks are lost, it makes wiper blades last for years.

This year, after seeing something similar on other vans, I used an old piece of pipe insulation, cut to suitable length and slid onto the blades. Even if you do accidentally hit the wiper switch whilst messing around they won't cause any damage. Of course you have to take them off before setting out, but they're easy to see from the drivers seat.

I took my wiper blades off and put them inside the vehicle, all that faffing about with corks!.. the blades still in the open.

Hi Gromett, what is claying the windscreen never heard of it before.

Same as claying the body work. Does a pretty good clean of the screen pulling out embedded dirt that a normal wash wouldn't.

Best done before applying a treatment like rainx etc.

I am going to be trying one of the ceramic nano coating on my windscreen as I have seen a few reviews of this by youtubers and it seems to be more effective than the likes of rainx and longer lasting?
