Our solar panel has stopped working, and we might get a habitation check done soon although this is less pressing. Can anyone recommend somewhere to have it checked , or a mobile engineer. We are in South Devon, thanks

Would it be a flexible panel by any chance? Ours has gone duff this summer it managed to last 2 and a half years. If you need to replace it go for a solid panel. Check at the terminals to your solar controller with a multimeter from the panel in sunshine should read about 19v.
I am sure better advice will be along soon.

Our flexible solar panel burnt out due to overheating whilst on a storage site. The helpful dealer's staff had totally sealed the perimeter on installation so the heat underneath couldn't escape. Also recommend replacing with raised solid panel as we did. Don't even consider trying to remove the flexible panel, or you'll rip off the roof coating as well, just cut the wires as short as possible.

Try Devon Leisure Ltd, used them for my Hab check in August:

Our rigid solar panel was fitted by Van Bitz who are on the edge of Taunton.
They also have Cornish Farm camp site right next door, which means an 8am booking in the workshop is not that difficult.

Van Bitz specialise in all things electrical on motorhomes
(Alarms, trackers, solar, Battery Masters, as well as GasLow etc.)

Ridged panels rarely fail more lightly to be the regulator.
If you have meter the voltage out of the panels on the input side of the regulator on a bright sunny day will be around 20 to 22 volts. The output of the regulator should gradually rise up to 14.4v as the battery charges.
