Hi Everyone

Hope you are all enjoying this lovely weather sorry we haven't been in touch for some time but we are back and need some help/advice regarding a flat vehicle battery.
Unfortunately we haven't been able to use our motorhome for some months and recently have found that the vehicle battery is not starting the engine. We have managed to get this recharged but have been told that there is a relay that we can buy to attach to the wiring of our solar panel so thst it not only keeps our leisure batteries topped up but will also top up the vehicle battery. Has anyone heard of this or has this option on their motorhome, if so any details would be appreciated.

Many thanks Marilyn

Theres a thing on the market called a battery master, easy to wire it takes excess power generated by your solar that goes to your hab battery, once full it kicks in and sends it to your cab battery

https://www.vanbitz.com/product/battery-master/
I have one fitted to my leisure batteries which then sends power to the vehicle battery but at the moment I have pulled out the fuse.
This is because I also have a similar relay attached to the vehicle battery that kicks in when the engine is running to feed the fridge and also the power to retract the electric step if it has been left out.
So when parked up with the step out it would suddenly go in if the relay on the leisure battery opened up.
Still working on a solution.

Or swap out your current solar panel charge controller and fit a dual stage one that outputs to both hab and engine battery.
Only one extra wire to run to splice into the input 12v side of the distribution board.

can also be used for battery balancing. It provides a higher transfer amperage than the battery master.

I fitted this a couple of months ago easy to wire and does what it says on the tin.
