Sincere condolences to you. I really feel your pain, we lost our rescue greyhound to bone cancer on Monday and I can’t bear yet to talk about it.

But well done to you for turning the dogs life around, you will have provided a happy and loving home .

Must go now, too many tears...

As always, when a loved one - be it human or animal - passes away, the grief we feel is the price we pay for the love we had. I always try to console myself with the thought that it’s a price worth paying, although it is hard.

Always incredibly sad when we have to say goodbye to our four-paws, but I am in tears reading about the condition some b*stard human got her into and how AMAZING you and your family are that you gave her a second chance and a wonderful life for the 12 or more years she has been a member of your family.

Jim, I still want that ~respect~ button for people like Annie, xx
Not sure I deserve that, if it been all up to me I might have left her there in the first place! Luckily for Squidgy our daughter persuaded Dad to drive all the way to London’s East End and back to collect her.

Top marks for giving this lucky girl a great life and hopefully to have helped her to forget the cruelty by the previous owner.

This is Mimi, the love of my life:

We had her 6 years ago when my wife spotted her on the website of a rescue centre 110 miles away. I told my wife she was daft to do a 220 mile round trip to see a dog she might not like when she got there and to look nearer home. Needless to say it was love at first sight when they arrived home together. Wife right as usual!

Thanks, your photo gave me a smile for bedtime when I’m sure you didn’t mean to.
Are you sure you only went 220 miles and not all the way to Australia?
Is it just me....or

Little Squidget the Midget (not very PC I know) in my avatar has had to go to sleep today. She was a rescue dog in 2005, left in Dogs Trust as no one wanted her, not house trained and had had her tail cut off too short, cigarette burns on her body and suffering from no hair on her flanks and her eyes almost shut due to an undiagnosed condition. She was not a beautiful dog. A RSPCA rescue case that had been to court as so bad. Daughter decided that she should come home!
Lots of TLC later and twice a day eye ointment for life, a warm coat in winter and a cuddly cat igloo for cold nights means she has has the best we could give her ever since.
Funny little scavenging, demanding thing, she will of course be greatly missed.
Just seen this. So sorry for your loss and thank you for giving her a wonderful life. Nothing beats rescuing (y)

So sorry to hear about Squidget, after such a tough start she deserved to spend the rest of her days with such a caring family.

Thoughts with you Rivs; my rescue dog is sitting here as if butter wouldn't melt but I know he would eat me in a second :) Keep the good times in your heart.

Aww! Run free little squidget. My sympathy on your loss. You gave her a great ‘rest of life’ even if her start was crappy. Your the one she will be waiting for over the rainbow bridge. Big hugs. :hugs:
