We went up on Wednesday, with no intention of changing, but came very close!!
The IH on the new Crafters look very attractive. Luckily (for use) VW only produce the crafter in the 6m and 6.8M length, and we are happy with the 6.3m lenth that we currently have.
6m is a little short, but we don’t want to go to 6.8m. I do like the Crafter, and there did seem to be a few more people using them on new builds.
The show seemed very quite compared to last year, so don’t know whether this will affect new sales.
Anyone shelled out any of their hard earned?

Just seen on the other thread, you got an Adria Twin 640. ;) :)

Nearly bought the new uld IXEO i746 Limitedly Edition.....

1 of only 8 for the UK

I was very tempted...got a very good PX offer for our current van.... Said I would sleep on it....
Had the salesman on the phone at 9am next morning...

Common sense prevailed and decided not to spend the extra £50k....

Didn't buy but we are waiting to have a look at the IH Crafter with front lounge. It's expected to be launched at the February show.

The rear lounge model looks great it's just that we want to see the option before making any decisions.

Did you feel that the extra length of the crafter seemed to get used up by the driving area?

We looked at it at Stratford and although we liked the bathroom it seemed to have a lot less storage than our IH630RL. We had gone all set to order one. We came away really disappointed especially as Nick had cleaned ours to within an inch of its life! We do love ours however. We will look again I’m sure as we do like IH vans and their after sales service is fantastic.
We were going to look again at Malvern but they didn’t have one at the show. Looking forward to reading reports back from the early purchasers. I have a big birthday next year so who knows.

Thanks for the feedback. I too have a 630 RL and don’t know how I could improve on it. The Crafter is also a bit narrower so don’t know how is fatties would manage.lol!

As well as being longer it’s taller so we would have gone up a category on height and length on Brittany ferries.
We also couldn’t get any useful info out of any of the salesman on the payload. Fully loaded plus 2 electric bikes we weighed in at 3520 in the 360rl

We were informed by a guy in the know at the NEC that IH was really struggling to get its hands on sufficient Fiat Ducato base vehicles to fulfil its orders. I wonder if that's the reason why IH is now using the Crafter base.

Think we will buy a Dethleffs 7057 this weekend. Nearly done the deal at the show but i was suffering with man flu and just wanted to get home rather than thrash out the deal.
Was offered a good discount and the trade in on mine in only £2k under what I think i would get in a private sale.

IH told me this about a year ago. Wonder if it’s just an IH problem or a Ducato issue.?

I've not heard of any other converter having problems so it may just be a small glitch with IH.

During our NEC trip on Wednesday we specifically wanted to see the IH 630 RLS with its slide-out system. As it turned out they already had four ongoing RLS orders from 2018 which they were struggling to fulfil, hence the reason why there was no RLS at the show.

Our Globecar dealer mentioned this too ... one of the reasons our 4 month leadtime is now standing at 9 months.

We spent some time on the IH stand (A bit to much time as it turned out :D). Was chatting to Nicola and she mentioned that the lead time for ordering and receiving Ducato Base vehicles was such that an order now would probably arrive at IH in May 2019, with a delivery to customer after conversion in July or August depending on the model specified. For that reason they were pre-ordering the most commonly ordered chassis/colours in order to try and shorten the overall order/delivery time. We were looking at a 630 RL and there were a couple of pre-ordered possibilities that we could have had that would allow a delivery of around February 2019. As it happened, when we returned a little later having decided to order, it transpired that with a bit of jiggery pokkery by Ian, there was a base in the colour we wanted available in house already that we could have delivery of in December this year, so needless to say we have done the deed and signed the dotted line. Can't wait now, really looking forward to taking delivery. Off to Knottingley the week after next to view the IH factory and see our van in build.

I wish those of you who are spending money on new vehicles in UK could be persuaded to go to German and order some models there......

.........I might need a good secondhand one in 5 years;):D

I've kept in touch with a few of the MoHo sales guys that we've met over the months and none of them have met their recent NEC sales targets. There's still lots of money out there but I'm getting a sense that there's a slight reluctance to spend it on new motorhomes - I could be totally wrong though.

Compared to the Continent, The UK is not a particularly MH friendly place. If I spent all my time in the UK, I would rather have a caravan than a MH.
Maybe people are waiting to see how travelling abroad will change after March 2019 before committing huge sums to something they might not get to use as they want.

That's a very fair point you make.

My personal experience during my purchase process was that a SIGNIFICANT numer of dealers blatantly lied to me about (PVC) lead times before the show, inferring 12+ months to factory order tomes, and that I would be “best” to buy one of their remaining 2018( or even 2017) models
As soon as these old models thinned and the show didnt seem to be delivering on numbers, it changed

I know one dealer had a 2017 model, built i dont know when, on their stand.
And they sold it
That fine if all the info was passed over, I suspect that is not the case

The dealer we eventually bought from was in the minority who told nothing but the truth since day 1 of the search which was iback in August

Warwick XL, trading up from a VW T5 conversion. Looking forward to being able to stand up and to having showers! Quoted delivery will be January / February. Can't wait. Planning a trip to Scandinavia.

The Warwick XL has a fab shower and loo set-up. It's probably the best of any PVC out there.

Welcome to the forum BTW.(y)

All the best,

Andrew

Warwick xl, nice van.
With regard to payload, which I note is quite low, if you add any of the packs and once the otherhalf is on board, due you intend to replate it?
I see the front and rear axle are rated at 4500kg, so in theory you could.
Just that been thinking abt one of these for the future and just wondered what people do.
