Our Snipe made an awful grating noise then jammed, partially parked. John took it off and stripped most of it down. Nothing to see. We put it back on the roof to test it, yippee it works. Tested it once more, grating and partially parked again. So it’s unreliable at best. Avtex in Cardiff no longer repair them. So we’re after recommendations for a digital aerial. We don’t watch a lot of tv so no point splashing out on a dish or new Snipe.

I had this on my old motorhome and seemed well made, it worked very well. It has a suction cup that allows you to angle it pretty much where you require it ?

I don’t watch TV but last week found a Snipe satellite auto thing in a purpose made plastic case in my shed, I must have bought it and forgotten about it, it’s rectangular, don’t know if it’s the same thing as yours that’s broken.

Are you looking for an aerial that will pick up terrestrial TV, for example Freeview in the UK? If so we can recommend our Vision Plus Status 570 directional aerial. Comes with a signal amplifier and a signal strength indicator and has outlets for 2 TVs. You will need to drill a largish hole through your roof though for the mast.

We have had the same problem for two years now. I put a cloth on the end of our hook for the awning, as that extends, then put under dish and push up a bit more of a nudge really and have found this has worked every time.
It seems to make grinding noise after rain but runs smooth after a nudge. Hope this helps

Very interesting Ray. This will obviously be the first thing we try.
Thank you

Thank you, not sure we will go down this route. We had one on our previous motorhome, and it was good enough for the UK, but would take too much room up in our only tall cupboard.
Thanks for the comment though.

Hi, if nudging with a pole doesn’t work, we may well try one of these. Not sure how we would feed the wire through as there’s no window near the TV. It’s right by the hab, door.
Thanks

This is an indoor one it doesn’t need a window ?

I found one in my shed and was going to use it in the new motorhome but we had one fitted that goes through the roof, here are some pics of the one I found, I put an iphone on it to give you a sense of size, it’s a large iphone!

Was it something your gonna use or looking to sell? - as I'm thinking of a snipe myself

This is what I found, I think we took it to France one year but couldn’t get a signal as you needed a bigger dish or something, we did try it here and it worked no problem, we never watch TV so I put it away and forgot about it, I only bought it as there had been a great review on them, here are a couple of pics, it’s in a purpose made plastic box but the sticker is coming away slightly. Not sure if we are selling it I may try plugging it in this week to refresh myself about what it does, I can then report back. No idea what they are worth either, I just found the receipt and had paid £582.84 for it on 25/7/14, can’t believe I forgot I had the bloody thing ?. I have the full manual in digital version as well ?

Really pleased for you. I forgot to mention that I got that tip from on here so again what a great bunch of helpful people and well worth the £15.
Kind regards Ray

I recently bought this for when dome can’t get a signal.
Works surprisingly well, did have Avtex one but it took up room and very rare got used.
I think this will be worth buying as a backup. Thank you Manic.

I thought at the price it was worth a punt and it’s worked well when I’ve tried it.
