Thinking of purchasing a toaster for the motorhome. All the ones I can see are 26 cms plus. Anyone got anything smaller that they could recommend?

Thank you for that - do you know what make it is? Or is it manufactured just for Morrisons - not many of those supermarkets around us unfortunately!

The trouble with these small toasters is, you have to turn the bread 20 times to get it to toast,, there is normally more bread out of the toaster than in it👍

I don't remember mine being too small for the bread to go in, but I haven't chucked it so it must be OK :giggle:

Now use a hob toaster - just as good as an electric one BUT you can’t walk away and leave it!!

We don't often do toast but if we do it on a gas hob toaster which we got from go outdoors.

You do need to keep a close eye on it though!

We bought a small toaster a few years ago, from (I think) a camping/caravan shop. It’s branded ‘Homark’ (no prizes for guessing where it’s made) and is rated at 800W. Overall dimensions are - L 22 cm x W 14 cm x H 17 cm. The slots measure approximately 12 cm x 12 cm. We use it occasionally, and it works OK, but, as you might expect, we have to be patient as it toasts slowly.

I found some similar models here:

We have one of these 700W works fine £17.99 from here, I suspect most camping outlets sell them

The modern Swiss Luxx 2-Slice toaster 230V in white is excellent for caravanning, its so light, compact and efficient and features electronic browning control, stop button, auto pop-up and auto cut-off.

Specification:

  • 220-240V Mains powered.
  • 700 watts.
  • Dimensions: 22 L x 15 W x 15cm H.

We’ve got the Morrisons one in post #2, used it this morning and are currently wanting to replace it because of the same comments in post #5
It’s only about 13cm slice size so can’t accommodate a normal slice on its side.
The facts that it is very light, compact and basic are good but we’d like something similar around 14-15cm slice size.
Coolcats Whats the slice size on the Swiss Lux please?

I take it that we all have useless gas grills on our van ovens

Excellent, not seen one of those before. Great for toast when there is no EHU (y)
The last three trips out we have been on we have not had electric.
and waiting for the grill takes till dinner time to do 4 slices of toast.

We rarely have hookup but if we do I use my special toaster, it's not small but makes cracking toast! Same as the one in the below photo.

I make my own bread and it fits, we are away tomorrow as soon as I get a chance I will let you know 👍

I think you should be able to use up to 1500W on a 6A EHU, so why mess with lower wattage ones. They'll take longer and dry the bread more.
Alternatively, change your habit and have something else while away...

Thats very anti toastist.. :wink::rofl:

I prefer mine in an electric toaster, gas grill only as a last resort.
We use a cheap £5 asda toaster 700w... If Asda put a label on saying low wattage and camping they could charge £15 !! :whistle2:
Have an 1100w Inverter and does the job great...

It's croissants for us, although we did toast hot cross buns over the gas hob with a fork.

I'd like to discourage folk from using an inverter to heat. I know it's "free" energy but the chances are that many will not be doing their batteries any good as a consequence.
