New van to us and away for first time.

It has a 2 burner hob. The front ring has a weak flame and the back one will light, with a strong flame but will only stay alight when the knob is pushed down. It goes out as soon as I let go.

Any ideas?

Thermocoupling, for the one that won't stay lit.

I had something similar on mine.
I dismantled the burner and the gas pipe connector underneath as far as I could, put it all back and it worked.
If you can get that far make sure any springs are ok.
Mine does have flame failure detection.

One of the burners on our 3 ring Smev hob is very weak, I think that's just the way it is and we only use it for simmering ?
If you can get to the back of the knobs, check if they have a single insulated wire going to each of them, fitted with a push on Lucar spade terminal. If they have, just try unplugging each one and refitting it, as it senses a really weak electrical signal from the flame that keeps the gas valve open and even a bit of tarnishing on the contacts will stop it working.

We has a similar issue in ours. One burner was low (I thought that was how it was suppose to be) and would not stay alight. Had a mobile Guy out and he stripped them down and cleaned them and now all 3 working ok.

Well I’ve had partial success. The burner that wasn’t staying alight now is after putting my hand to the underside the knob and wiggling wires.

For the low flame, I removed the burner and it all looks clean. So still the same. Wondering if it is the bore diameter. We are at a festival this weekend but will try swapping burners over when I get home.

Thanks for all the advice

burner may be clean, but you need to clean the jet..

use a jet cleaner, (not a bit of wire which can damage the jet) .. (buy on ebay)

The best thing for cleaning jets is fusewire, it's too soft to damage the injector. Old school trick, remove the injector put the fusewire through it and hold in your teeth pull the other end tight and rub the injector up and down spinning it.
