At last we're away again in our mh. Staying overnight on a small pub site with good amenities. However my peaceful reading of Fun this morning has been ruined by the continual "slide/slam" from the three PVCs parked nearby. I mean how many times do you need to get in and out of a van? It's one of the design failures that sellers never talk about, door open, heat out, flies in etc. I know there are some electric closers but few fitted. Maybe they'll all move on today!

We have a PVC and are aware of this problem, I try to close the door slowly and quietly when in and out but this means that the door is not fully closed, unfortunately the only way to get the door fully onto the catch/lock is by slamming......noisily!!

If the door and the latch are set up correctly they can be closed relatively quietly.
Why don't you guy get your flipping doors sorted then you won't keep pissing people off.

Sorry for the rant but fed up with PVC door slammers who are inconsiderate to others around them.
Worst of the lot is white van man with a mattress in the back who's had a few beers.

In our early day's we had a caravan two screaming children and a barking dog, we would go to a CL and people still parked close to us. 🤔
We noticed my mum and dad with their little VW camper with sliding door was given a wide berth, so after our first motorhome c class, and second motorhome a a class, the way forward was a van conversion and now on our second one, the slamming of the door works even better than loud music. 😎

Yes parking with the Spanish very entertaining, 😉 like many things in life if you let things annoy you they will. 😁 Bob.

On the rare occasion I find myself parked with anyone (a situation I like to avoid) I climb over my bench seat and through the sliding door into the drivers cab. That way I can enter or exit via the dirvers door. Much quieter. Simples.

I have a pvc and agree that the whoosh bang is annoying, for the 0.5 of a second that it takes. But since we are on annoying things how about stinking rancid BBQs that affect neighbours for hours. Smile.

We are never 'home' later than 11pm, and are not prepared to leave the sliding door unsecured for anyone! It needs a good push to close it and make it secure. We don't have dogs, smoky barbeques, noisy kids or late night drinking 'parties' - all things people could complain about!

The issue arises with the regularity and the time of day/night of the closing. At other times, it is what it is and others have to accept it, just as we pvc’ers have to put up with having the sun blocked out by non-pvc’s.
‘The sun blocked-out by non-pvc’s’………..how?

Wow it’s not that much of an issue, I never really notice it when you put it in context with all the other noises around.
Is it a case of people putting a post on here and then other people, who previously didn’t notice it or think it was a problem, now being more conscious of it and now saying “ Yes I hear it too”

Dogs, kids, generators, shouting, someone on here even posting that a van closed their curtains when next to him.

Tolerance and patience, life throws enough crap at us without looking for it.

Very satisfying to return the compliment by doing a few unnecessary own door slams early the following morning?
Childish really, but hopefully message received and acknowledged.

hi guys . we had a PVC 1 out of 7 m/hs which have had 15 years ago ( i could wait to get rid ) & they are still the same now slam slam slam :snooze: & if they have dogs its more slam slam slam :lipssealed: so don't park next to one or the tall m/hs as when you go to Spain or wherever for some sun you get a dirty great tall m/h parking up blocking out the sun  you have just drove 1500 miles for . SORRY pvc & tall m/hs etc etc owners

Always seem to end up next to these but luckily they seem to go to bed early so not to bad
😁😁

When we were in Germany last year I said to Mrs CC at about 11-00pm look at that no slidey doors next to us then bugger me if about 5 minutes later I heard someone pull up in front of us and it was a German van with slidey doors😂😂
He was ok after he set up though.

The only thing that annoys me is why they have to go in and out their vans every 2 minutes🤬🤬

It's almost as annoying as A/C class motorhomes which seem to have about a hundred lockers which need looking into and the doors slamming constantly through the day and night.

The "garage" should be renamed the "pantry" given the amount of beer and foodstuffs which have to be constantly fetched. Maybe they don't have any inside storage lockers??

Live and let live!

I'm happy with that, if you see me parked up in my whoosh-bang don't come park anywhere near me. :giggle:

Pete

Just as an aside, one idea is to maybe fit a pull handle on the inside of the door, then just close the door slowly till its almost shut and then 'pull' the rest in from the inside using the handle. Photo is a bit extreme but maybe one of those vanity handles you see above car doors.
Me, I'll just keep p!ssing others off and give it a good slam because I can. :X3:

Woosh bang doors, dogs, children, early morning converations outside your van, next door neighbour scrunching up and down gravel, car doors (tuggers) and van cab doors (mohos) slam slam slam. Silent running genny's, overnight heaters... OMG maybe you ain't cut out for our lifestyle and should stick to hotels.
We ALL do something that will annoy someone else... Ignore them and get on enjoying our great past time.👍👍👍

I didn’t realise that all non PVC camper/ Motorhome doors were totally silent as appears to be the case. Yes I have a PVC and use the door only when necessary. It’s not the doors that are the problem it’s the way people use them. Rather like the overloud tv or radio or screaming kids or shouting parents or barking dog. All that’s needed is some consideration and good manners, by everyone.

Hotels are even worse in my opinion the constant slamming of room doors half the bloody floor sometimes, in bang out bang there really is no excuse for not closing a hotel door quietly, yet still they do it. Most campsites are quite in comparison

It's not so much the noise the door makes, what I can't understand is why PVC owners have to go in and out of their van slamming the door every 15 min until the early hours of the morning, you don't get people in normal Motorhomes doing that.
