Been using a bean bag holder for garmin. Then we got the new van where we sleep in the drop down bed over cab. Woke up at 3am with a bang. Bed seemed a bit wobbly. Another crunchy noise and she slept on.
Next morning's examination showed the bed balanced on the Garmin. The sat nav hooky bit had shot out across the dashboard but no damage done. Unbelievably the only thing holding up the bed was the sat nav which remained vertical between the dash and the bed base. Should have removed the sat nav before dropping the bed.
Not do that again!
A week later, did it again. This time due to the increased height of the bed as it sat on the Garmin, the stepladder slipped under the bed and got wedged, causing a small crack in the plywood under the bed base. The sat nav bean bag connection is also a write off.
Not do that again!

Until the next time.....sorry I laughed at your post Folkranger, done the "well, I won't do that again" myself on several occasions. Best wishes, Dram.

Looks like I get no sympathy here. Anyway, decided to look for a sat nav holder that doesn't sit on top of the dash as remembering to remove it each journey is obviously beyond me.🤔

Found a solution. Sit the bean bag holder toward the front of the dash where there is a dip. Need longer arms though.
Edit- and better eyes.
