So I think I have one of the earliest Oyster systems fitted, it has the ir mouse and old control box. I’ve been playing around today and managed to get my SkyQ box fitted and working using a universal lnb.

Does any of you know how the cable roots from the lnb and through the dish housing, worried about it wrapping around.

Regards, Grant

Good morning gazpilot

The cables run through the internal workings of the Oyster. From the LNB they travel down the inside of the LNB arm and then come out at the bottom before looping into the rotating head. They then feed down the main spindle to the under compartment, are attached in certain areas to stop them getting caught in the gearing and then they go through the recess on the under side where you find the connectors to attach to the main cable that then runs into the vehicle.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, I guess the dish has to be removed to access the body. I did try undoing the bolts but they are v tight. I ran a few tests and the dish doesn’t seem to rotate more than 360 in one direction so have routed the cables accordingly. I have emailed you at work to ask about upgrade options, once again many thanks for responding.

Yeah the dish will rotate around 380 degrees from it's zero position and then return back to zero on the next spin. In order to feed a new cable through you would need to open the system at the top (removing the arm to gain access to the rotating head) and you would need to remove the maintenance panel on the underside of the system. It is quite tight in the centre spindle so you are restricted on how many cables can be fed down there however we use a very thin 75ohm cable and can get around 4 down there if needed although the thicker white cable you'll struggle with more than 2.
I'm going through my emails at the moment so will get to you shortly and explain in more detail. I was called out of the office yesterday afternoon though so they've built up a little but shouldn't be too long.

Well that all works a dream. Once again thanks for the help Anthony
