We plan 5 days in Skye and then having two stops on our way to Dunnet head, all in late September early October this year.
We have a 6.3 Ducato based PVC, so I guess optimal size for the more demanding sections.
My only concern is that I have used Google Maps for planning my itinerary, and I'm concerned that the journey times for the N500 are a bit optimistic.
Example, Inverewe to Eribole 125 miles in approx 3 hours.
I've spent a while checking out posts on the forum and as usual a nice mixture of info, banter and fun.
Any comments gratefully received.

I think some of the route planners are a bit optimistic for the route you are planning to take.
For starters, I think you are travelling the northern section of the NC 500 against the recommended direction of travel so you will find there is more traffic coming towards you thus slowing you down at passing places
Overall the route is a victim of its own success, with far more traffic using it than envisaged, this on a single track road is not good news.
Then there are the idiots, but you will learn to recognise them quickly enough……
Have a contingency plan and have a few places to stop at overnight en-route, there is nothing worse than getting stressed if time is running out.
Dont forget there are places to stay, apart from the main club sites

Unless you are determined to do part of the NC 500 , there are IMO better options driving up through the middle

I would head to Kinlochewe, then Falls of Shin, then Altnaharra, stopping at any of those en route 🤔

Oh the old days pre NC500 . I remember them well

Thanks for the tips. Most helpful, A rethink is needed.
