It appears to work from internet only, is there a terrestrial or satellite tuner built in ?

There is a Freeview aerial input, and three HDMI inputs. It has no inbuilt recording capability - need to add some sort of recorder, I imagine….?

edit: btw, I do not own one, just read several reviews……

It's a reasonable TV with reasonable smart TV features. But there's nothing outstanding about it. There's no special features that it has from being integrated, other than less wires. The problem I have with it is the lock-in. You've tied to paying Sky. And in 5 years time, if they decide to abandon it, you've got a gimped TV. Personally I prefer to get a TV that has a good picture, then get a separate box for the 'smart' bit that I can replace when the tech company gets bored/dies/gets taken over.

You can still schedule recordings but they’re cloud based and playback is over Wi-Fi. As in it’s not a local storage in the STB.

All the channels I’ve watched on my little sisters Sky Glass have a timeline that you can go back in time with.
At the moment at least, the BBC’s channels look different. They’ve a built in iPlayer interface for their timeline scroll.
So, there’s no plus 1 type channels - now redundant.

And a Sky Glass-like standalone service is upcoming.
It’s a Puck - looking a lot like device used as the multi screen option for Sky Glass owners.

I’ve ordered this for next week . It looks to be a good Tv system .Any opinions from current owners ?
My son works for Sky and wouldn't give Glass house room. One of the main complaints is that you can no longer record.
As it is, basically IPTV, theoretically, you no longer need to but habits are hard to change. If you have it installed, don't let them take your dish down, just in case.

Like you said, habits. I had a Sky box for many years that was used quite a lot. I dropped for a BT YouView box to reduce costs a few years ago. Then went entirely Freeview because we just weren't recording anything. We've got an aerial on the house, but since I tidied up the TV shelves, I accidentally left it disconnected and didn't notice for months.

Everything we watch now is streamed YouTube, iPlayer, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. Sky know this. It's cheaper and lower risk for them to steam stuff on demand than launch satellites and support expensive set top boxes that takes them more than a year to recoup their costs. Broadcast TV is dying.

The problem with sky is they are so far up their backside to recognise what their customers want.
Why pay for the following shite if you don't watch it.
Cricket
Rugby
F1 the most boring over rated sport on TV and of course English football none of which I'm that interested in I would pay them £60 -£80 a month for
I have a firestick with IPTV and pay £60 a year for everything.
I also pay an additional £40 a year for Eurosport so I can stream it when I want all year round.
All this glass thingy does is give you the same as IPTV but at 10 times the price.

When camping sites give me reliable 1Gbps download then I’m in ( I must also be able to download and store programs, like I already do on an iPad ) , until then I will stick with my Maxview auto dish and Q box in the van .

No recorder needed as everything is ‘on demand’.
A total waste of money.
Skys answer to IPTV
Is IPTV ‘on demand’? i.e. can you ‘catch up’?

I’m waiting for the puck to be available so that I can then ask if I can view all my subscription channels when overseas.

Indeed, no need for recording.

I think Glass is domestic product and not for campervans
There’s a puck version about to be released so you don’t need the TV.

All okay as long as your broadband doesn’t go down.
I like the being able to record a series and see all my recordings. We have Netflix as well as Sky but I just don’t like the way it’s all laid out.

You can connect an aerial for terrestrial telly to Sky Glass 🤪
Might be a shock reverting to just a few HD channels 👀😳

….until it’s deleted from the content provider’s list of available programs…..:(

True but I guess that the majority of customers use the feature to watch at their convenience (i.e. to time shift their viewing) and not for the purpose of archiving material.

My son in law was excited by the launch of the Sky glass tv, he ordered one but his excitement soon turned to disappointment.
He returned it after a couple of weeks.
The sound quality came nowhere near his surround sound system, and it would appear that sky launched it before all the bugs had been ironed out, using feedback from customers to do their research & development.

🤔My sister was made aware of Sky Glass’ need for the fixes and feature roll out before committing. Could be some Sky sales peeps are better than others.

Re. Sound system, I’m not (yet) a fan of surround sound from front only speakers so I’d hope to get a digital audio output to my AV amp 🤞

One of the HDMI sockets is eARC enabled, so should provide a feed to an AV amp……..
