Sites near Richmond Park

I am thinking of photographing the deer at Richmond Park when the Rutting season starts. I live near Portsmouth so could travel up early in the morning but it may be more convenient to be closer. Travelling towards London is never very nice! Does anyone know of any sites close to the park, facilities are not essential.

There is parking in Riverside road in Richmond. I have worked as a medic for Richmond live in the park. Our paramedic stayed there in his van.
